Lake Quinault Lodge

Imagine my surprise when I book a stay at Lake Quinault Lodge and find out they have closed their restaurant and dining room. The Lodge gave little warning of this and offered no guests a discount on their diminished stay. This is not only terrible customer service but a huge inconvenience because the lodge is in a remote location with no alternatives close by. I've seen the many negative reviews about this place, which is sad because it's a wonderful old place that I've visited since my childhood. I blame the private sector management for spoiling this national treasure.

We came here for their 4th of July festivities, which were a once in a lifetime experience. Great music, bbq and beautiful views of Lake Quinault in Olympic National Park. We also came for dinner and drinks the next night, food was some of the best I’ve had. Everyone at our table couldn’t stop talking about how much they loved their food. Such a cool historic spot as well.

There were no meals. Restaurant was being renovated

In general, properties in National Parks can be a bit sketchy, and although Lake Quinault Lodge is aged, it’s actually quite nice. When we entered the room, we were surprised at how nice it was. It was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and we got a good night’s sleep. We walked down to the lake at sunset and it was gorgeous. The staff was friendly and accommodating I’d stay here again.

The hiking, the beautiful lake, the history, and we met some really lovely people who were also staying at the lodge.

After we booked our reservation, which did not allow for cancellation, we received an email from Quinault Lodge thanking us for staying with them. Then they told us there would be no restaurant, food or beverage service and no house cleaning services. This is a "resort", I guess. They also changed the big log fireplace in the lobby with a gas fireplace. The floors were clean, but the curtains in our room were broken, with parts hanging down. The cupboard with the fridge would not close. Actually, it was really sad to see this beautiful historic lodge treated with such under whelming care.

The lodge and landscape was beautiful. There were many trails to walk on. The waterfall was beautiful! The staff were friendly. Wel9ved the heated floors feature in the bathroom!

Insurance room, the sink drain in the bathroom was very clogged. Water didn't drain well at all. The shower leaked water along the base of the shower every time it was used.

The balcony floor was not very clean, and there wasn’t a way to regulate the heating in the room

My husband had booked this resort in January. We had been there about eight years ago the closer it got to our trip, the more worried we got because of the bad reviews. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was very nice and welcoming, the fireplace was beautiful even though it was a gas fireplace now. There is a valid reason for this. We had a TV in our room, we turned it on and it worked and we turned it off and we never had it on again. There is internet, just no streaming and we were fine with that. Who needs to be on their device all the time. No need to go to a cafe for internet. We had heat in our room. The room was clean with plenty of hot water. The only negatives were the dining room is not open Monday to Wednesday, some of the trails, especially the beach trail needs work, but that is not the lodges fault. The woman’s sauna is not working and the people above us were a bit noisy, but that is not the largest fault either. We enjoyed the fireplace. We brought our own games and sat in front of the fireplace and played games my husband drank wine and I made myself a mixed drink and we had cheese and crackers while we were playing games. It was a wonderful evening. The second night we played games in front of the fireplace after dinner. We had a wonderful time and would go back again. We hadn’t been there in eight years.
