Hotel Presidente

This was not too expensive, but just a very nice hotel 2 blocks from Plaza de la Cultura. It's a great location to explore the main sights of the city. The lobby is pretty hip and a bit boutique, but the rooms are all suit and tie. Our room was really nice, very clean and very white as the predominant decor. A giant and very pillowy king bed took up about 2/3 of the room, a big TV and credenza most of the rest, making it a bit cramped to walk around. Still, everything was very crisp and modern. Service was good, being nice enough to store our bags as the previous occupants of our room didn't leave on time. There is also free coffee at all times in the lobby. They also include breakfast in the room rate. Overall just a great and somewhat luxurious place to spend a few nights in San José.

Property is nice and clean, staff is friendly and professional. No complains about the hotel or business but the area is horrifying, dirty, unsafe, homeless is everywhere and drug addicts are all over. We did not feel safe in the area or entire San Jose.

Don’t judge a book by its cover… that is especially true for Hotel Presidente! On the street side people who aren’t used to traveling in non-Euro areas, the urban center of San Jose can feel a bit underwhelming— but everything, and I mean everything inside this hotel is well done and full of friendly staff and features. It isn’t the Ritz Carlton by any means, but it is so much value for the price. The rooftop bar and restaurant is fantastic. The staff super friendly and genuine. It is easy walking distance to much of the urban life San Jose has to offer.

Lovely, posh hotel in the heart of downtown. Easy to walk to many sights and attractions but also centrally located so Ubers don't take long. Beautifully appointed, clean room. Restaurant onsite opens at 3 and closes at 10. Allowed for a late check out which meant I didn't have to stow bags or figure out how to change for the airport. Security and gated. They even gave me a tip about zippering a pocket on my purse when I headed out for the first time. Everyone speaks English but happy to struggle through Spanish with me too. Would definitely return to this property.
