SOL by Meliá Benoa Bali

A beautiful place to stay. Staff are super friendly and nothing is a trouble to them. Suggest you have the Premium Package it was worth every cent. Lots to do every night. The food is really good and the cocktails amazing. I would recommend SOL by Melia Benoa Bali. Although it is an older resort everything was clean and the room was large with pool access.

Large beachfront resort. We stayed in the Two-Bedroom Suite: incredibly spacious, comfortable, well-equipped, and with plenty of in-room amenities. We really appreciated the generous amount of water provided, since the tap water isn’t drinkable. Unfortunately, the room is old-fashioned, just like the rest of the hotel, with wardrobes that smell of wood and an overall dated style. With a full renovation, this place could easily become an exceptional hotel that would stand out from the competition — but it’s not there yet. The pool is large and has a very cool swim-up bar. There’s a gourmet restaurant available by prior reservation, a main restaurant open 24/7, and another restaurant located in the garden. Daily entertainment and sports activities are offered. We loved the “paint your own Bali bag” activity — it will be a wonderful physical memory to bring home from the trip. Private beach, beach volleyball, table tennis, darts, billiards, table football, karaoke… The staff is extremely kind and helpful in every department, which is a consistent standard we’ve found in all Meliá hotels.

We weren’t overly impressed, though the staff were lovely and helpful throughout our stay. The location isn’t the best, depending on what you’re after. We’re a couple in our late 30s travelling around Bali, and this hotel was included as part of a package. It was our second stop after Ubud, which had a real “Bali vibe” — unfortunately, this hotel felt dated and lacked the bright, airy, welcoming feel we’d hoped for. Our first room (8112) had what was described as a “market view,” which turned out to be a brick wall that felt quite claustrophobic. We asked to change rooms and were offered two alternatives: one right by the lobby, or one by the pool for an extra £20 per night. We chose the lobby room (8209), but it was very noisy at night — people were out on the roof until around 3 am, and the roof was directly accessible from our room. Both rooms had a musty damp smell, more noticeable when entering. We’re not party-poopers by any means — we love a good time and often visit Ibiza — but this hotel doesn’t really have that kind of lively or stylish vibe. The area itself also has very little going on. Even the nearest “attraction” on TripAdvisor was a toll bridge! We gave it a fair try, but it seems to cater more to an older crowd and isn’t ideal if you want to explore or have some variety. Our stay was meant to be 5 nights, but we checked out after 3. Luckily, hiring a scooter allowed us to explore a bit, and visiting nearby beach/day clubs helped make the most of the time we had. We found a lovely roof top bar ,called The Nest, good vibe and music, nice drinks.. just round the corner on the main road. Ive left a review for them, too. When we decided to leave early, the receptionist 'kindly' wrote out a statement explaining that the area wasn’t what we’d hoped for and that I wouldn’t be requesting a refund for the two nights we didn’t stay. (£100). She asked me to sign it, which I did, as I wasn’t asking for any money back — we just wanted to move on and make the most of our trip elsewhere. There is alot more upto date/modern places to stay in the area, just looking on Booking.com.

Llevábamos ya una semana en Bali, sin ningun problema con la comida, pero fue comer primero que yo comí pescado y luego cenar, que cenó mi pareja pescado y ponernos malísimas. Yo con diarrea acuosa y mi pareja con vómitos al día siguiente. Nos arruinó la estancia. No era cosa de no estar acostumbrada a la comida de Bali, porque como digo llevábamos ya una semana ahí, sino que es que el pescado estaba malo.

Food was very bland. They say it's halal but I did not eat the meat I only had seafood for time I stayed.

Food and drinks

We have been to Sol numerous times over the last few years and each time we delight in seeking out the small changes and upgrades to this already charming traditional Balinese style hotel. The little tweeks to their food and drinks menus, the improved wi fi around the pool, the replacement of furniture keeping the vibe fresh and modern while still blending with traditional Balinese charm , and everywhere spotlessly clean. Can't not mention the gardens which are immaculate and add to the relaxing atmosphere. It is a smaller hotel and this is part of its attraction with everything an easy stroll. But the biggest asset is their staff. They are always ready with a friendly smile and greeting from the moment you arrive at reception to each and every staff member you come across during your stay. They all make an effort to get to know you and anticipate your every need. The all inclusive package is good value and makes everything so easy. The buffet food is always interesting with a 24 hour restaurant if you choose otherwise. The rooms are large and well kept. There are daily activities and evening shows available. Obviously we love staying here and would recommend it to anyone considering visiting Nusa Dua.
