The Empire Hotel & Spa

The hotel is in a lovely location, room was o.k a little tiered,the bathroom had no shelf to put anything on. It was just very disappointing.

Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Food was amazing

Because the bedroom was small there was no room even for a small dressing table in front of a mirror. The shower head was not adjustable, and hence having a shower without getting your hair wet is another problem for some ladies.

Had a wonderful stay in The Empire Hotel & Spa. The room was fantastic and housekeeping done everyday. The decor of the hotel is also fabulous. We had breakfast which is served from 8am to 10am. No complaints here either. There is enough on-site parking throughout the property, but you have to keep the keys in the reception if the car is blocking another. (one after the other) Overall a wonderful stay in the hotel and definitely recommended!

This is a lovely hotel the whole team were very friendly and helpful the room was spacious and very clean only downside was it was very warm breakfast was great and the evening meal we had there was lovely would certainly come here again

We stayed in a standard queen on B&B. Room well equipped with plenty tea and coffee, shower gel, body lotion and seating. Comfy bed. Room could do with a touch up as wallpaper peeling in parts. Robes provided for spa were too small to use. The pool, sauna and steam room were available 7am to 9pm and during our stay we mostly had it to ourselves. Staff were friendly and seemed to be a lot of repeat visitors. Breakfast was good and plenty of options. Cooked breakfast and toast made to order with cerials, juices, croissants, fruit, yoghurts, jams available buffet style. We had an evening meal once and the service and food was excellent. Overall a good stay and very good central location.

We have just had a weekend staying in the Empire Hotel and enjoyed our stay, the decor was lovely and everything was clean and well sanitised. However there were a few niggles that we feel let it down. We would not have expected to have paper cups and wooden stirrers in the room, not in a hotel of this price point. The breakfast we felt was underwhelming not having a lot of choice again in a hotel of this calibre we felt large pots of marmite , peanut butter etc were not acceptable. On a personal level my wife asked the waiter if the sausages were gluten free to be told” let’s say they’re not”. Which to me felt as if he could not be bothered checking or offering a alternative, Gluten free’toast ‘ was provided but had simply been put in the oven not a toaster and tasted of sausages! Drinks in the bar were reasonably priced but no crisps/ nuts were available to accompany the drinks. We did come across a couple of staff members who we felt were a little aloof but generally the stay was good although all these niggles would prevent us returning as we have stayed in many quality hotels and felt the Empire didn’t quite match up in our experience. I am sure many people have stayed, and returned and enjoyed their stays as we did , but for us personally it’s not for us.

Lovely hotel very friendly, comfortable bed and breakfast cooked to order

What a pleasant change to stay in a large family run hotel! Interior decoration was very tasteful. Room was very clean and well laid out with a comfortable bed. Hotel staff were great and couldn’t be more helpful. The well stocked and staffed bar and surrounding seating areas were wonderful and the pianist on Friday evening really added to the excellent ambience! Plenty of hotel parking and it’s free! Couldn’t fault this very well run, well positioned, comfortable and friendly hotel
