"Nice stay "

8.0

We booked directly through Castle and made two requests: upstairs and away from main road. Of course when we got there, we were given #84, 1st floor across from the road. Despite our efforts, unable to find a different room for us. Our first night we had a loud party late night, later in the week a heavy snorer above us. That said we were very impressed with the condition of the room and supplies. All the kitchen essentials, and I was very impressed there was everything you needed for the beach in the closet, umbrella, 2 boogie boards and 2 sets of snorkeling gear. Chairs and towels were available at the beach hut.. We did not need air-conditioned, between the fans and breeze, although this let in the road noise. Location was great, short walk to the gym, pool and restaurant. Club had everything you could want, cardio, weights, basketball, tennis, pickle ball, volleyball, corn hole, pool, and jacuzzi. Grounds were well maintained and beautiful. We would definitely come again, but will book our room directly with Vrbo or airbnb so we know where we're staying.

A beautiful property with many flowering plants. Right on the beach where you can see turtles, seals, and many types of fish. Very helpful staff. And of course, excellent weather.

"Disappointed in the condo- love the location and amenities"

6.0

Location is perfect. Included access to the Athletic club is awesome though it is a 5 minute walk - no big deal. And the beaches are fantastic! The unit itself was disappointing. We had rug in the living /dining area and in the bedroom- needs to be ripped out! Ewww! Very old and outdated. Same with the furniture- sagging cushions and uncomfortable. I sat in the dining chairs to read etc! Bed was saggy on each side where you slept and better in the middle. Kitchen - stove - 2 of the elements were coming out -and the dishwasher makes a screeching noise when running. Bathroom has been redone but still needs some work. Tap would make a squeaking noise at times when the water was turned on for the shower. Could hear the people upstairs very easily walking about because of squeaky floors. We were expecting a bit better quality for what we paid!

Outdated apartment - it was not cleaned properly when we arrived. The kitchen cabinets and appliances were old, and the bathroom was old with dirty walls. On a positive note, the area outside was nicely maintained with a short walk to the beach.

"Disappointing"

4.0

We came to celebrate our 50th anniversary. Booked our condo in March I loved the pictures that we saw online, we’re so excited. Waited along time for this trip, but when we arrived we were shocked at how old the room looked the carpet is old, the carpet was spotted, as I walked in, the floors had sand on them. My husband found two pieces of glass on the carpet. As I started looking around and noticed the counters still had breadcrumbs, open the refrigerator and it had coffee grounds inside of it, the dishwasher didn’t work, stove was greasy. Glass table and counters were cleaned with a cleaner that made them look cloudy. Coffee pot was burnt and had a blonde hair on it. Complained to the front desk in a very nice way. But not much was done. They did bring a new coffee pot for us. I’m in the process of trying to get ahold of a head manager at castles. Probably won’t go through castles again. Talked to some condo owners here and advised me to go through outrigger as they own some to. Or go through vrbo. The only good thing about this condo is the view was beautiful. So that’s my 50 yr Anniversary story. My advise be cautious of condo room 217 bld 4.

"Bad room, poor experience"

2.0

It’s hard to write a bad review considering the staffing shortages hotels are facing and increasingly angsty guests. But while I sympathize with the industry, there’s a limit to how much a guest should have to tolerate when they’re paying a good chunk of change. So I must say that Castle Kiahuna offers a below-average guest experience that frankly surprised me. I expected a slightly dated room and limited services, but this room was terrible. We routinely had no hot water for showering (ended up taking showers at the athletic club every day). The bed was so uncomfortable — all hard springs and no cushion — that we switched to the slightly better pullout couch after the first night. The floor had unsettling soft spots. The phone never worked, so we had to always go to the desk to ask for anything. In general it was dirty and in near-disrepair. The shower fixtures were constantly stuck. Despite a $30/day “cleaning fee”, the only way to get new towels was to bring them to the office for an exchange. I’m all for saving on water/labor, but it’s not a big ask to have towels picked up/dropped off. And maybe we should have read more reviews beforehand, but this place does not have its own gym or pool. You have to walk across the street to an athletic center with a small pool and gym (not on the beach). The gym there is great. The pool, however, was closed for the last three days of our stay. No reasons, apologies or alternate options offered — just no pool on a Hawaii “resort” vacation. The likely overworked front desk workers were cordial at times and curt at others. It made us feel like we were just barely being tolerated, despite spending over $2000 for a weeklong stay. This property has potential but despite being mostly booked up, there’s been no investment in improvements. I had family staying at The Point, which was a much better managed property. Employees weee super friendly and helpful — they even brought towels to the room! Stay there for a similar price rather than this place.
