"Safety Concern – Room 103"

2.0

Got locked in the bathroom in Room 103 due to a faulty door knob. Struggled for 30 minutes and had to wait over an hour at 11 PM for help, with no one at reception. Staff said this had happened before — clearly a known issue. Very poor safety and response. Disappointed.

"Lived up to our expectations."

10.0

Lovely place on Eastcliff close to the Zigzag. The staff are friendly and can't do enough for you. Prepare to pat £20 a day for the carpark. Not a problem at all. Plenty of spaces and secure. The room was spacious and not modern however this adds to the character of the place. The room was clean and facilities adequate. The breakfast was more than adequate. Tasty and a good selection. If your older and like traditional this is for you.

"Tired in parts but improving"

8.0

Stayed here one night on a special offer which included breakfast, dinner and free parking. We had a newly decorated room with terrace and sea views. Comfortable bed and great shower. Toiletries very limited so bring your own. Reviews seem mixed and with a hotel this size I can imagine rooms are not all of the same standard. As parking was included we were extremely happy with our deal but I can imagine that a £20 charge can make you think twice about booking a room without its inclusion. Location is great and though the walk down to the sea was steep, at least it was close to the hotel and made a nice circular route to the pier coming back via the less steep cliff top route. Food was a bit mixed, with large portions. Staff very helpful.

"Grand old Dame of Hotel"

8.0

After reading some of the reviews on the hotel I was worried what we would find. Booked with Secret Escapes for DBB for one night. Staff at the reception were helpful and efficient. Our room was a suite, large sunny room looking over the sea, very clean and certainly passed my eagle eye. Bathroom was fine, but absolutely hate shower curtains, so an update with a shower screen would improve it dramatically. Food was plentiful at dinner, we had a three course menu, but could not eat a dessert as too full after the first two courses. The hotel was once a grand dame hotel, now showing it’s age, all the internal decoration was fine , carpets throughout were also in good order. So,all,in all a very pleasant stay and an absolute bargain at £136, such a delight in this age of huge tariffs for rooms.

"Would highly recommend this hotel …"

10.0

My husband and I had a night away with our dogs and stayed at the Carlton hotel. From start to finish we were really looked after. The room is absolutely beautiful and the views to die for our dogs were given treats and travelling water bowls. We had a suite and it was huge and was so clean. The bed was really comfortable we had a lovely night sleep. We had breakfast which was lovely and every staff member we came in contact with especially the guy who unlocked the door at 4:30 am this morning to let our fur baby out for a toilet. We couldn’t recommend this place highly enough we have stayed before but this was by far the best it’s been and the room was the best room we’ve ever stayed in there. Josefina went above and beyond and made our stay perfect

"miserable"

4.0

We had chosen this hotel because of daylight-lit indoor pool and parking, and were let down on both. First and foremost, the check-in time is 4PM and they mean it - you'll be told there are no rooms available if you turn up earlier, even though it is easy to tell the hotel is not busy from the number of cars in the car park and the scarce guests on hotel grounds. Considering check-out is 11AM, that is inexcusably late. Secondly, despite the 'signature' in the name, the hotel try to charge you for every minor extra, like some cheap hostel. Even the towels at the pool are chargeable. Parking is not free and is charged at £20 a day. I actually blame Hotels dot com for not making bookers aware of the fact, as we would have opted for another property if we knew. Upon arrival the receptionist will tell you that you have 10 minutes to register your vehicle or get out, as otherwise you risk getting a parking charge notice. Just FYI, parking on nearby Meyrick and Gervis roads costs £10 a day (9am-5pm) or £21 for three days, so don't assume the hotel offer you best value here either. The indoor swimming pool looked nice on the photos, but turned out to be 5x5 metres large and 1m deep. The pool area is as shabby as the rest of the hotel and has just three random chairs standing in there, no loungers, no robes, towels at a cost. Changing facilities also just as small and uncomfortable as the rest of it. Breakfast was OK, but again nothing special. Not coming back here, for sure.

"Absolutely disgusting"

2.0

Just felt I need to post this.. this hotel is a part of the Best western hotel group.. the absolute worst place I have stayed in . This was booked for a a large party of people over 40 couples and most of the people in our group had problems with the rooms and weren’t very happy either . Dirty with thread bare carpets .. they charged £100 per person per night .. 🤬 after complaining I was just given a load of excuses and they refused to even give us a discount.. absolutely disgusting.

"Nice Hotel Great Location"

8.0

Normally have a lovely stay at Bournemouth Carlton but not such a great experience this time .. room was not cleaned to expectation with crumbs on carpet and hot tub out of use ! Long waiting time for food and drinks in Bar area due to just having one member of staff working the bar.
