Holiday Inn Express & Suites Halifax - Bedford by IHG

The location of this hotel is excellent, the room space and facilities are good, and the breakfast is also very good.

Unfortunately, the elevator was not available on the day of my check-in. When I checked in, I requested a quieter room from the receptionist because my wife had just finished her medical test and needed a good rest. The receptionist recommended the fourth floor to us because there were very few people on it, so I would rather walk up the stairs to reach the fourth floor. What surprised me was that my wife and I didn't sleep well all night because of the loud noise, which was very bad for us. Under the window of this room is another road, the window is not sealed, and even the gap between the two windows is very large, with almost no sound insulation effect. The noise from vehicles passing through is clearly transmitted to the room. In addition, outside the wall of this room is a staircase, and we can hear footsteps and the sound of the fire door opening and closing clearly when someone is using it at night. I can't believe we were arranged for such a room. When we checked out, the receptionist couldn't do anything except apologize to us, and we were very dissatisfied.

BEWARE. Arrived to check in- was told the pool is closed. This was not disclosed prior to booking. Elevators are also down- this was disclosed after booking as well (I don’t mind taking the stairs, but not ideal for anyone with mobility issues as there are 4 floors). We drove 5 hours to Halifax for our 11-year-old’s birthday- the only thing she wanted was a hotel with a pool. I canceled and went to Chateau Bedford down the street (staff there were excellent, very accommodating, we got a room quickly and they gave me a discount). Now I am in a battle to get my money back from the Holiday Inn who told me I had to do this through Booking, but Holiday Inn actually has to make the decision. Holiday Inn is conveniently not responding to my request.

Nothing if I had to pick something the bed was comfortable and had 4 pillows

Staff No working pool, elevators. Bathroom was dirty and door was falling apart also sink was leaking.

The staff was excellent especially the gentleman on the desk upon arrival in the evening. They were able to accommodate my request to be on the lower floor due to the elevator issues which was much appreciated. The same gentleman assisted our request to have some school work printed for my daughter to help her work on school work while she was away from home. Breakfast was excellent!

Unfortunately the pool was closed and the elevator was broken due to recent flooding caused by recent storms but there were accommodations made and alternatives to swimming for example however we were only there one night.

The staff were very nice, most of the facilities were closed due to maintenance but the staff made the difference. Thanks for supporting with an early check in, I am pregnant so it was very hard to wait for my room. Breakfast was also very good.

Friendly staff

We weren’t aware the pool would be closed when we made the booking. We did know about the elevator being out of service beforehand, but not the pool. It made for a very disappointed 7-year-old. Unfortunately, the beds were also quite uncomfortable.
