Club Wyndham Newport Onshore

Good location. Modern condo, great size for six people. Two parking space is available, which was great.

I was contacted on the day of arrival to say that they had no space for us and that we were being “relocated” to another Wyndham property. I was very outraged as we paidbooking.com $1000 per night for this condo. Nothing was ever mentioned that this place commonly overbooks and that we could be “relocated“. I would have never rented this property if that were the case. We went there and protested and they said they were able to “maneuver things around and find us a condo”. Total BS. I’m sure this is not the first time this has happened. Outdoor area needs a total renovation. Outdoor pool was just OK and the indoor pool was disgusting. Beautiful view of the water from our balcony as long as you didn’t look down to see the outdoor property.

The accommodations are very good. We have owned a red week here for more than 30 years. But, Wyndham is a scammy, scummy, almost criminal operation. Do not fall for their new “Owners’ Services” come on. It was nothing more than a ham handed attempt to get again get us to surrender our deed in exchange for “points.” These points supposedly allow you to stay in any of their properties. Maybe, but never when you would actually want to. Do a quick search on Wyndham. They are defendants in numerous ongoing class action suits. One whistleblower suit - where the whistleblower won millions of dollars- told about their salespeople having “T.A.F.T. Days,” where they are encouraged to “tell them any effin thing” to make a sale. Many renters or points owners have found that their reservations are canceled with no notice. Look it’s a great property and there’s virtually no better location. It’s probably why they’re trying to strongly arm ownership from the deeded owners. If you want to stay at Newport Onshore, rent directly from a deed holder through Airbnb, VRBO, or Redweek. Don’t give Wyndham your business and don’t let them give you the business.

Newport is an exciting year round destination spot especially during the summer and even during some winter months especially on weekends. If you want to see what it ws like during the "Gilded Age" you've got to visit the mansions that are maintained by the Newport Preservation Society. Great restaurants and wineries abound. In the summer you can't beat the beaches in Newport. There's so much to do and see in Newport and the surrounding area.

Great location with a beautiful view of marina. Very clean and has kitchen amenities. Will recommend to friends and family.

We loved the location, the size and quality of the rooms. Loved the fireplace. The only strange thing was every once in a while you notice a broker or poor quality piece. For example one toilet seat was all scratched which was strange in a brand new bathroom. The handle for the oven drawer was missing. Otherwise everything looked brand new.

The unusual broken parts as mentioned above

Warning Stay awayI The day before we left I called them and they told me they would not be able to honor my reservation. They said they had called me /would have called me but when I asked them they did know my correct phone number. I would have shown up and been really stuck. I see many review of this nature. They said they would put me somewhere else of their choosing. I saw the other reviews - no thanks. I have heard this before about Wyndham. Money hungry timeshare operation. I will never stay with them nor anybody who works for me will. Disappointing.

While Onshore boasts an excellent location just off Thames Street, our experience in the Eastwind building was disappointing. The room lacked freshness upon arrival, with a noticeable urine odor in the master bathroom. We also found the appliances to be dated, including a broken agitator cap on the washing machine. The constant, unadjustable HVAC fan, limited and inconveniently placed outlets and USB ports, and the master bedroom Wi-Fi modem (which made connectivity in the other bedroom poor and required frequent sign-ins, even for the TV) were significant drawbacks, especially given our positive experiences with other Wyndham properties. On a positive note, the beds were comfortable. We hope to see improvements by the time of our planned return in a couple of years.
