Newbury Guest House

First time staying in Newbury/Back Bay and highly recommend. Lots of restaurants and shopping within 3 blocks and easy walk to Boston Public Garden and Boston Common. We love a boutique hotel. Dedicated guest parking in the alley behind the NGH was worth the extra fee. Easy in and out but we only needed the car 1 time during our 3 night stay. Standard queen room with updated bathroom (tiled shower with glass door). Guest chair, small desk, fridge in closet, robes. No coffee maker in the room but coffee, tea, espresso, cappuccino available 24/7 in lobby. Elevator from parking entrance right up to room floor or lobby. Property is old. Staircases are not straight. Lobby is decorated nicely. On parking level is access to La Voile, the French restaurant nextdoor. We had a delicious Hugo Spritz but no food. Room was quiet. Bed and bedding were comfortable. Good towels. Carpeting on floor is old and would prefer LVP in a hotel room. Location makes this a terrific stay.

I would only have good things to say, if it weren’t so incredibly expensive. It just wasn’t the kind of luxury place that should’ve cost as much as it did.

I would have been slightly more pleased if there were some form of breakfast available and not only coffee and tea.

Such a lovely place just steps (literally, from so many shops and restaurants. Close enough to the Public Gardens and Boston Commons to get some green space. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Loves our stay.
