Courtyard by Marriott London

The building was recently renovated so it looks nice. The room was relatively clean however there was an old banana peel behind a chair and the cupboards in our suite needed a good wipe down. These issues did not bother me. What I did not like was asking for towels that never showed up. Paying for continental breakfast and then being told it was not included. They claimed that Expedia does this all the time and I replied that that was not my concern and that my reservation said it included continental breakfast. They gave me breakfast for one day. I asked for a playpen for my 1 year old and they said they didn’t have any left. I asked them what they recommend I do with my 1 year old and they told me to use the pull out couch. When I went to the room there were no sheets for the couch. When I told my friend from London she said the rumors about the place is “any excuse not to lift a finger”. I would say that about sums it up. The reviews I read said it was a good place and this makes me question the validity of the reviews.

Honestly the check in was fine. Note: There were no BATH towels in the room. There was a hand towel and wash clotb. When I tried to use the room phone to let the clerk know there were no towels, the room phone did not work. I then called the hotel number with my cell phone to let them know i had no towels. They did not pick up so i had to go down and get them. The clerk said they had one towel. I said I need two. The clerk said she would get a pool towel. Ugh. When I qused the iron and the iron board, the steam from the i¹ron set the smoke detector off. I didnt realize this until I packed my purse and was moving out the door when i realized the green light on the detector. I panicked for nothing because the smoke alarm shut off. I didnt like being inconvenienced when staying overnight in a hotel should be more fluid. I was disappointed and would not stay there agaib. Sincerely. Barbara General

Upon arrival we found out that the room we booked was not available. I was not happy about it, but the young man at the front desk was great. He got us another room and brought up a cot. He gave us complimentary breakfast and really made up for what was not his error. What could have been a really frustrating thing turned out great because of the young man at the front desk. I hope his bosses know what a hem he is.
