Renaissance Walnut Creek Hotel

The people who checked me in and out were very nice and I suppose the ratings are for the property, itself; however, the room is a 3 star at best. When attempting to flush in room 414, the toilet didn’t complete the flush at first. After jiggling the handle a few times, it finally completed the process, but it took several minutes. When used again, it never completely flushed… even after waiting attempting around 6 or 7 times. In addition, the carpet in the room is very nasty looking. It was probably vacuumed, but it seemed to have some real filth in it. The bed was okay and fine enough to sleep, and the size of the room was decent. The metal shelf in the bathroom is a bit dated, but functional. To be considered a 4-star, I’d expect quite a bit more investment in functional toilets and deep cleaned carpets, but the employees were very kind.

Renaissance is a fantastic hotel. The staff, facilities (pool and gym) were all excellent. The surrounding area is fairly limited but you do have everything you need on site and the BART station is a 5 min walk away. It was a shame to leave!

The hotel is centrally located and has plenty of amenities such as use of the bay club for swimming and fitness center. Hotel is not in good condition. Everything needs painting and floors need to be cleaned and updated. Outside is beautiful, but rooms need attention for the money you pay to stay

We were so pleased to stay at this property - and be allowed to use The Bay Club and all it offers on premises! Room very comfortable - beds are excellent and consistent with other Renaissance properties. Only downside is that they don't allow pets. But we will stay there again!

Good location, gym was updated

Maitenance in general seems to be dated. I had to rehook the toilette reservoir chain as it wasnt filling up and the bath tub had a dent in it where water pools up. Another time I stayed the tub drain would backflow dirty water.

Staff was friendly and check in was fast. Lobby area was modern and looked nice. The first room we got had a problem with the AC unit. It was making a loud rattling sound. The staff was quick to give us a new room. The room itself seemed outdated. The carpet was old, the shower was a bathtub shower, and there were only charging ports for mobile devices on one of the two nightstands.

The staff really tried.

The temperature of the room was set so it would not go below 70 degrees. At around 2am I called because it was too hot to sleep comfortably. They said they would “reboot” it. Instead they turned it completely off. I called again and the man who answered said it would take 15 minutes. I waited. Still too hot and now it was hotter and the thermostat and air conditioner was completely off. Finally they sent someone into my room who said: “ It isn’t even working at all”. That is what I said! After flipping a breaker twice it came on but still would not cool below 70. Forty five minutes in the middle of the night for nothing. Also room service brought me my breakfast with no napkin, no utensils and no cream for my coffee. I had to call again to get these.
