Convenient location, staff are approachable. Hotel has seen better days.

We were only there one night, and unfortunately it rained so we couldn't use the pool, but it looked good from our balcony overlooking the pool. A very impressive old building filled with interesting artefacts and old photos. The room was comfortable and well appointed. the staff were friendly, but the advertised "tea and cakes" were sadly not available. Breakfast choices were limited, but OK.

This hotel lived up to our expectations. A colonial hotel with beautiful furniture and artifacts. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was extensive, Indonesian choices, egg station and plenty of fruit, specially made juices. On a slight downside, the rooms were a bit tired and in need of refurbishment (but it is a 100 years old). The dinner buffet is not so extensive as breakfast. There is an a la carte menu which we didn’t try but maybe more choice. The transfer service from the airport was expensive compared to a taxi or Grab. Overall we really enjoyed our 3 nights here.

This is a well located and beautiful colonial hotel. Staff very good and helpful. The rooms need a bit of a spiff, though they are spacious and beds comfortable. Bath a bit cramped but adequate. Breakfast adequate and the courtyard is lovely. Good value.

After spending 2 nights at The Phoenix Hotel Handwritten Collection I can share that my experience fell significantly short of the 5 stars they proudly display. Part of the loyalty for hotels group is the benefits they offer over other groups. I am a Accor Plus Gold member but apparently this does not mean much at this property. Upon check-in I was given the basic check-in speech, my membership was not recognised and my benefits were not detailed if they were granted or not, I was tired and just wanted to get to the room so I left the desk quickly. After a quick nap I called the front desk to ask about my benefits like room upgrade, welcome drink location, F&B discount, etc… the front desk had no idea what was I talking about and put me on hold in complete silence for 20 minutes so decided to approach the desk and inquired. Duty manager Hardi was active listening to my inquires but the first impression was already broken, he offered fruit to be sent to the room (which is part of the welcome amenities for Gold members) and a special drink that never got. I’ve stayed at many heritage Hotels around the world but Old does not mean poorly maintained, this Hotel felt worn out and in desperate need of internal renovations (refer to the photos). Lastly the amenities in the room (shower gel, body wash and hand wash) felt cheap. There was no conditioner nor body lotion guests have to call and request this items. Once again, this is supposed to be a 5 star hotel… The only reason I’m giving 2 stars is because of the restaurant staff that was great to deal with otherwise it will go way down. Definitely not up to the 5 stars international level of service and terrible for members of Accor, would definitely book another brand.

Great staff! Excellent communication since day one. We booked airport trabsfer and the driver also was the driver to take us to the temples… it’s for an extra fee but worth hiring the ride with hotel directly. I have a recent lung condition and the staff was extra accommodating to me not walking as much and giving me a room in the first floor , connecting me to a wheelchair service at borubudur temple. I highly recommend the spa, too! The hotel is like a small Museum, so pretty!

What an amazing hotel, so much history still kept in sort of museum style rooms. nice pool, beautiful rooms, amazing breakfast, friendly service many smiles. well located. center yogja . highly recommended , Dora and Doro approved 5 star.

Homie and comfortable room yet clean. Very polite hospitality crews. Breakfast buffets were amazing! Fresh juice bar to order plus wide range of options!

LOVELY hotel. Colonisl feel . Rooms well decorated and comfortable . Staff very friendly and oblidging . Breakfast very extensive . Our 2nd visit here and always enjoying while staying. Will definitely come back if visiting Jogja . Very nice location, close to everywhere.

Lovely colonial style in a beautiful building. Good location in the heart of Yogyakarta. Lovely courtyard pool but unfortunately not able to use as rained throughout our brief stay. Busy restaurant but food and service good. Nice bar area with lovely friendly staff.
