Marriott Lexington Griffin Gate Golf Resort & Spa

The breakfast was amazing. Should have had a little more of a discount for hotel guests though. Wait service was a little slow, and it was not even crowded. Need to have accessible drink pitchers with the buffet. Our wait for beverages with breakfast took forever and it was not crowded at all.

Service was slow, even though there were only a few guests eating. Had to wait over 15 minutes to be seated and another 15 minutes to flag down someone to get us water. Also the desk attendant when we checked out was snotty when I told her I had had a service dog. That was clearly stated in the reservations. Also check out is at noon and I was locked out of my room TWICE before 11 am! Fire pits were lit the first night, which was awesome, but not lit the next night. That was a huge disappointment.

Location and a beautiful property

The breakfast that include only cover two people even though there was three guests. Also very loud not very relaxing for being a spa hotel.

This is a pretty dirty hotel over all. The common spaces look like they haven’t been cleaned in several days. There’s food on the floor and on table tops. The floors are sticky with dead bugs and old sugar packets strewn about. There was hair in the shower and the outlets didn’t work in the bathroom or one of the walls in the room. The Bourbon dispenser didn’t function and the indoor “fireplace” (we were told by maintenance) hasn’t worked for a long while. The bell man was great and Mervie at the front was super helpful. The hotel needs some love. It’s out of date and feels very old. They’ve tried to update some of the furniture and fixtures but still feels like a major update is needed.

Beautiful surroundings and furnishings. Pool area and amenities were nice. Unique bourbon opportunities and great location to the area attractions.

Had to go to the front desk more than once for help because no one answered calls. Valet was not worth it and I only did it one night because it was never staffed and no one was available for calls to retrieve my car in advance and had to wait more than twice for the front desk to find a valet. There was a terrible sulphur smell in my room and colleagues room. She had to move rooms and I had to keep my window open.

Lexington was flooding as we approached the city. I wanted to talk to someone at the desk to confirm my reservation, let them know I’d be late, and ask about the flooding. It took over 20 minutes and 10 phone calls to get a human being on the phone. And she was overseas. Shame on you Marriott. I should’ve been able to contact a human being for the money I’ve paid. That’s disgusting, and it was a safety issue for my family. Shame. Secondly- our room was leaky so my two children and husband and I got split into two non-adjoining rooms. That’s an inconvenience. But I can handle it. What I can’t handle is the fact that I can’t find a resort map anywhere but the desk, no printed menu, absolutely no hard copy of resort activities and amenities. (Not that it matters because both hot tubs and one pool are closed on Memorial Day weekend.) THERE AREN’T EVEN CLOCKS IN THE ROOMS! I WANT TO UNPLUG. I don’t want to download apps and connect and do all of that. I like having the option, but I don’t want to fight with your apps and robots every single step of the way. It grumps me out and ruins everyone’s time when I am fighting your janky technology with no other options. Marriott has taken the humanity out of hospitality and I will avoid them in the future- not being able to speak with a human being at the establishment I’m checking into is a huge dealbreaker.

Nice area.. nice looking place

First of all, we didn’t sleep for 2 days since the air conditioning unit made noise 20 min per hour.. due to this our first day we turned the air off to avoid this noise. The second day the temperature had gone up, so we had to use the air conditioner, which had rattling throughout the the night. Secondly, our shower water was cold for two days…. Also, our Netflix did not work so the technician came out and said it’s not working because too many people have Netflix in our complex which is total bull…… otherwise our dinner was excellent..
