Barceló Maya Colonial - All Inclusive

Super great resort with kids. Water Park for children is super fun. My 4 years old had a great time. The staff at the kid’s club was excellent, lot of cool activities, my daughter loved it. Spécial thanks to Sarah Martinez and Zaira Huitzil. Many différent kind of activities for everyone. Pool are the biggest. staff is very helpful. I even swam with a turtle straught from the resort. We had a great week. Good food with many many différent options

The staff was consistently rude and treated us like a number rather than valued guests. We booked Barceló Maya Caribe five months in advance for a family of nine and spent thousands, only to be told upon arrival that there were no rooms available for us there. They initially tried to split our group between Caribe and Colonial, and after 30 minutes of complaining with no manager available, the only solution offered was moving all of us to Colonial. The buffet food was average at best with very little variety. While the à la carte restaurants were good, getting reservations was extremely difficult, with most availability after 9 PM. Even simple requests, like combining tables for our group to sit together for dinner (& the buffet) in an empty restaurant, were unnecessarily complicated. Overall, what made the experience disappointing was the poor quality of service and the lack of care from the staff.

We thought the resort was beautiful. It's geared more towards younger people and very large. The wait staff at bars were not good at all. Very slow service, to the point they would ignore people standing there. We observed this throughout our entire stay. At the pool bars mostly.

Overall id say our trip was average. There was a lot of information missing for us to know what was all available, which is too bad. the main buffet had good food options, the Al La carts were good though there was one we could never get into during our 7 nights, which seeded strange. Mixed Drinks were inconsistent, customer service was hit or miss. Rooms were great, comfortable and clean

We booked Colonial but but were appointed right beside it, at Tropical. Same difference. No big deal. All connected. One of the best resorts we've stayed in.. Pay for one, enjoy 3 sister hotels. Tons of activities. Huge, beautiful pools. Great service. Surprised me with a small chocolate cake in our room, as they must have noticed on my passport, that it was my birthday. Very nice entertainment. Comfy bed. Good size rooms. Favorite a la carte restaurants were seafood and the steak one. Book as soon as you arrive. Buffets good too. It was worth the one hour and 20 minute drive from airport. Great memories!

Was told the restaurant was completely booked upon check in. We only had 1 restaurant available to us on the second day. The rest of the time we had to go to the buffet. Seemed like all the buffet has the same food selection everyday.

Family loved the resort. The cleanliness of the resort grounds was amazing. Pools and beach was outstanding.

Our stay at Barceló Maya Colonial was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. The property itself is beautiful, with immaculate grounds, stunning pools, and direct access to a breathtaking beach with crystal-clear water. Everything is incredibly well maintained, and you can truly feel the quality in every detail. What made our experience even more special was the exceptional service. We want to give a special thank you to Mr. Santamaría, who went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcomed and taken care of at all times. His professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail truly made a difference and elevated our entire stay. The pools were spacious, clean, and perfect for relaxing, while the beach was simply paradise—calm, gorgeous, and ideal for both unwinding and enjoying activities. The overall atmosphere of the resort is both vibrant and peaceful, making it perfect for any type of traveler.

Best food and service is at Sante Fe and Jorge is the best. Another shout out to Pablo at Kyoto who put on a great show and cooked a great meal. Miguel at the snack shack kept the beer cold while we ate and overall we had another great trip. Will comeback as it has great value for your money. We have been to more expensive resorts and keep coming back here.

Big place with lots of things to do. Well kept. Friendly Service. Good food. Only issues were tub wouldn't drain, tough to get restaurant reservations and sargassum accumulation (which is tough to fault the hotel for). Otherwise, pretty nice vacation.
