The people.

This is a beautiful resort. However, part of the hotel is across a busy street. This is not accurately described on the website. Your room might be across the street from the beach, as we disappointedly found out after a 4 hour drive. The wait staff is very nice, but I would not classify this hotel as having good service. Many things happened to us during this trip, including being surprised by our room across the street which faced the parking lot. At night, there was a lot of loud music heard, keeping us awake. And 3 doors down from our room, at 4am, we heard very loud, abusive shouting which lasted an hour. Then, about 45 minutes later, we heard loud banging - like knock the door down kind of banging- which was very scary. I say all of this, to warn travelers there was no security patrolling the parking lot our room faced. Security was an issue for us. , and we spoke to many members of the hotel staff regarding our experience, including the manager who reports to the owner. Nothing was done. Very disappointing stay. We will not go back or recommend this hotel to others.

This place is the worst bait and switch hotel I have ever visited. The hotels and pools are ok but the rooms are vintage 1995. Do not trust the photos you are shown. We checked in and there was literally glass and nails in the beds. The hotel operators have zero interest in helping you. They literally do not care. I would avoid this place like the plague.

No small tables by the beach chairs.

Being on the beach and getting to see the amazing sunset view was the highlight of my stay. The breakfast buffet was pretty good. The grounds were kept clean with staff constantly sweeping sand. The staff was very nice and accommodating.

Paid $580 for one night for an ocean view and 2 queen beds because we had 3 people. The room only had 2 towels. Not even enough for the guests and no hand towels, no wash clothes, I had to request those and conditioner. The drinks at the bar were not made well.

There is no disputing this is the best each property in Playa Tamarindo. The views from the third floor rooms were wonderful.

The facility was very over-priced for what you get in the beach view properties. The rooms are plain and our washroom is dated. Beach view rooms werre over-priced at $500US/ night. Food was plentiful but quite unremarkable. They should look at upping food quality and lean into Costa Rican options. We found the food very Middle America; they neglected to include flavour. Lastly, the beachview properties were very loud. All 5 nights, we were wakened at least 4-5 times by loud vehicles, loud music in vehicles or motorcycles. As the primary hotel property in Playa Tamarindo, they need to take the lead on implementing anti-noise by-laws.

The fact that after 27 years without visiting Tamarindo, choosing Tamarindo Diria to celebrate my birthday and not getting a cupcake or small cake with a candle, and no one sang happy birthday to me, that was very disappointed. No one made me feel a special guest on my birthday on Feb 24th, but Tama Onda Restaurant did make me feel special. Please make sure to change that! Also, make sure to have elevators going to room 710, my mother is 84 and it was difficult for her.
