Church Street Inn Historic Charleston, Ascend Collection Hotel

Breakfast is not served here, but they have coffee and tea downstairs. The outdoor patio with the fountain is lovely, and its a great place to have your morning coffee. I loved my stay here. And its close to the parking deck. It's just around the corner. Everything in town is within walking distance. It's right next to the market. Staff was very nice!

The mattress was a little too firm for me, but I'm sure it's hard to please everyone on that.

It is a great location and comfortable.

The coffee in the morning was not good, check out was strange and disorganized.

The location of the hotel could not have been better for walkability through the historic sites. The inn was decoratively in keeping with the vibe of the historic area while providing more updated comfort. Although it had elements of a traditional 'hotel room', our two level 'suite' provided additional privacy for our adult son who was traveling with us. Having an additional half bath was great, as was the kitchen. The outdoor courtyard was lovely and picturesque. Having coffee provided in the lobby was nice, but it would have been nice if some breakfast items were also provided.

Having to pay an additional $25 per night for parking was not great. Wish the hotel could have provided at least a discount for parking in the public lot. Although we booked the room for three adults, the bathroom was outfitted with only two bath towels, and we had to make a trip to the front desk to request what should have been provided. Most significantly, we were charged by the hotel for the 'resort fee' per night even though we had already paid for that via our booking.com reservation. It took many phone calls to the hotel to try to get that refunded. Numerous calls went unanswered when (apparently) no one was staffing the phone at the front desk.

I called to see if I could change from the king to the double and the customer service person literally said nope and hung up on me. Talk about rude. If this is what I’m getting I don’t want it
