"Hotel experience is awful and after chatting with manager it is obvious why"

Reserved this hotel for front end and back end stayovers to use Raleigh Airport. After experiencing multiple issues on both stay nights we reached out to manager, Alexander Smith. It became clear why this property sucks. We arrived to a front desk attendant who hardly spoke and consistently gave one word responses. Then when we asked about a 5:30am shuttle, he wrote us down on the wrong day. Of course we didn’t know this until the morning employee told us we weren’t in the list. However, this employee was nice and shuttled us to airport, leaving the front desk unattended during this time. Red Flag, but he did make things good for us. During that first night before our trip, the room we were given had a huge hole where the refrigerator was ripped out, the TV didn’t work and when we asked the front desk person about it, we got a blank stare that was basically how we had been greeted upon checking in. There was also dirty tile in bathroom and wallpaper peeling off wall. On the return trip to this hotel, I called the local hotel number 4 times over the course of about 1.5 hours to schedule a shuttle from airport back to hotel, and no one Ever answered. Finally, someone Answered on the 5th try and immediately put me on hold and then proceeded to hang up on me. So I called a 6th time, got an answer and asked to Schedule a shuttle for 10:45pm and was rudely told that the shuttle driver left at 7pm and I’d have to find alternate transportation even though the website states the service goes from 5am - 12am. So after paying $20 for a cab, we made our way to hotel. Upon our checking in for the night after arriving back at 11pm, we encountered NO ONE at the desk, but rather a sign that said “I am away from the desk helping other guest.” We waited about 10 minutes before someone came through the door behind us,from the outside, and asked if we were checking in. This attendant checked us in, yet didn’t offer our waters for our Hyatt Status, and we went to our room. Where once again we found dirty tile, a security lock mechanism that didn’t fully close, a TV which would stay only on the guide, couldn’t get any other channels and once again a bathroom that needed cleaning. My wife just flat out refused to use the shower that night after a full day of travel or the next morning before we left. Upon leaving, we asked the morning front desk attendant if there was any way we could get a $20 credit on our bill because of the shuttle situation (we don’t need the $20 but there again Right in front of us was a sign advertising there free shuttle service and so it was about theprinciple of the entire ordeal). The attendant told us she didn’t have that authority but the manager did and we would need to talk to that person. We asked if the manger was there and were told no but he should be as he starts at 8am, of course it was after 8 and he wasn’t there. Red Flag again as if the manager takes liberties with their schedule then of course the employees will follow. This attendant did provide us with the name and number of the manager. We called Mr. Alexander Smith to again explain our dissatisfaction with the shuttle situation, which is why we picked this property, and asked if a credit of the $20 could happen. Mr. Smith immediately was rude and stated “the shuttle service is complementary which means that we can offer it if we like but it is not guaranteed at all and so no there is nothing wrong and no I will not give you that credit.” It became very obvious to 2 travelers who stay at multiple hotels a year, what the issue was with everything we had experienced, a poor manager, who clearly doesn’t manage much of anything at this property. We decided to end our experience with this hotel forever, even though we use the RDU airport many times per year. We stay at Hyatt hotels all the time, all different brands, and their customer service, friendliness, and quality of hotels from top to bottom are really really good. So we will not hold Hyatt responsible for this terrible hotel but rather Mr. Alexander Smith is probably the reason there are so many first ever trip advisor negative rating about this property. I don’t do many trip advisor ratings, really only about 7-10 from my many travels, but I can assure you they are all Positive. This is the first negative post from me so beware of this property

"Awful service with not being let into our room in a timely manner."

It was clean and location convenient

When our plane arrived later than expected, I contacted the hotel to make sure that our reservation was still valid. When we arrived, their system did not work and it took from 2:00-2:30 to finally be let into a room with a master key. When I went to the desk in the morning the man said we shouldn’t have even been let into our room. He was rude and was no help. The man at night told us the wrong time for breakfast so we missed breakfast in the morning.
