Inn at Schoolhouse Creek

Terrible dust mites in the bed. This only happens when bedding isn’t washed properly or mattresses & pillows are really old & infested. I have dust mite allergy & had to sleep in my sleeping bag, use my own pillow, & dose heavy antihistamines. I reached out to the managers & they said their team would look into it but they never offered to comp me anything (they have had over four months to comp me & have not). The shower also had some visible mold - looked like it could have easily been scrubbed off the tiles but no-one had cleaned it & there was not good ventilation in the shower room. I was trying to escape construction noise, & got mites instead - not impressed at all. If it weren’t for these horrid environmental issues (that should be investigated by local authorities) the place would have been okay - I could see the ocean from the room, & it had a large bed, fireplace, & fridge. Plus it’s dog friendly. The pool & spa were not operating when I stayed, but I knew that at the time of booking so fine. I also do not recall any form of kitchen/dining as photographed (either I missed it or it wasn’t operating in Dec) - there are places just along the road though. The office smelled like chemicals & I had to wear a mask, but the room did not have a strong smell. Overall, I am surprised this place is rated well & I cannot give it more than one star. Would never go back. My dog liked the fireplace.

An amazing trip! This spot is perfectly situated for anyone who loves the outdoors and great vibes. The drive to Mendocino and Fort Bragg is gorgeous, with plenty of scenic overlooks along the way that are worth a stop. We loved the little hikes and walks to breathtaking scenery. So many wonderful local restaurants, breweries and wineries. It was the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. Can’t wait to come back!

Close to everything, very quiet.

Parking in the dirt (or mud). Could have had a little more amenities in the kitchen ...large bowls, spices, etc... chairs were not very comfortable , bathroom window lock was broken, no screen on one of the windows, mattress was a little lumpy. A few small things only, nothing really to complain about.

The SHI property is located in an ideal location. Just minutes from Mendocino and other desirable sites everything is so convenient. There are many lodging options. I stayed in Tansy Cottage which was perfect for me. One bedroom that could sleep 3. Front and back porch which had a little gated yard. Microwave and fridge with all coffee or tea needs. Generous amount of linens and towels. The property is open and spacious for walking or hiking. Very quiet and serene with ocean views. Very pet friendly complete with dog bed, food and water bowls, toys, treats and roll of baggies. All the staff were very friendly. Jessica was especially kind when Baronmy labradoodle hurt his paw. Any dog owner knows how much that is appreciated! If I get a chance to be return to that area I would definitely choose Tansy Cottage at Schoolhouse Inn. Check it out! You will love it!!

We often stay at this dog friendly cottage. Comfy bed, good coffee, close to so many great spots like dinner at Ledford house, blowhole in the cemetery, diverse beaches.
