Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Chanhassen by IHG

Closest hotel to Excelsior . Staff offered use of nearby fitness facility - but on the last night of our stay :( Complimentary water with lemon & cucumbers was nice.

Hotel was Under Construction during our stay - pool & hot tub unavailable , door to outside by pool was not secure ( unlocked ) from the outside during construction. Messy area in front of soda /ice machine . Loud noises close to room from construction next door . Staff not visible from front desk . Breakfast was average , staff in kitchen seemed unapproachable .

Property is under renovation. Construction supplies on multiple floors.

The only thing we couldn't understand is that there was one person at the desk during check-in. If check-in time is at 3:00 then put two at the front desk to assist with answering the phone... checking people in... answering questions from people already checked in. I expected better from Holiday Inn.

One of my worst hotel stays ever. Problem #1: The hotel has a remodeling project ongoing, and instead of blocking one floor and working on it without disturbing the guests, the management decided to do two floors at a time. My colleagues and I stayed in different floors, both of which had remodel work ongoing. Workers had tools left in the corridors, room numbers were pasted on doors with printed pieces of paper, construction noise was persistent right outside my door - very uncomfortable. Problem #2: Internet speed on the 2nd flooor was terrible. I’m talking dial-up speed. Maybe due to the ongoing remodel, or something else - my colleagues had the same experience, very slow internet. Problem #3: Hotel staff were using the lounge chairs and sofa in the lobby when I came down after breakfast to wait for my colleagues. About 8 employees were happily sitting and chatting in the breakfast / lobby area, so I barely had any place to sit down. Very inconvenient, I’m not sure how the staff here was trained.
