Ha Mar ao Luar

Disorganised owners. Breakfast from supermarket and 1 Euro ham provided and boiled eggs from day before. There are orange trees and lemon trees everywhere but they give you a carton of peach juice. Very strange. The cabin was sweet but if you want sun it’s a very small space to sunbathe. Hire a car. There is not much to see in the area. Come to read and relax only

On top of a hillside in a nature spot overlooking the setúbal bay area this place offers breathtaking views from the outdoor pool area. Views from hillside are worth a million bucks, comfort level of the suites not so much. Toilet didnt flush (lever system needs to be replaced), beds (one actual small queensize bed and one fold out bed-like bunk that is onder the sofa) either had super hard or paper thin matress with no support whatsoever. Took several minutes to get warm water. All in all, scenery and pool area Made it worthy

We stayed here for one night in March 2018 - it is quite isolated but has incredible views of the ocean. We were a little bit wary at first as it seemed a bit basic but we were wrong. Absolutely wrong. The staff were fantastic and went out of their way to help. It is very rustic but very clean.

We decided to stay in Ha Mar ao Luar based on the reviews on Trip Advisor and it was fine but it definitely wasn't great. It is located quite close to Setubal but is in the hills above it so you either need your own car or you need a taxi to get to and from there. We had booked a suite and it was fine as well but it was definitely very dated. The suite contained two rooms - a bathroom and a bedroom / kitchen / dining room / living room. The suite was very large for two people and could probably have accommodated a third person as there was a couch in the living room which could be used as a bed. The suite is clean but the furniture, cutlery, glasses, cups etc are old and some are showing their age. The service there was good but they were not expecting us when we arrived even though it had been booked online. The breakfast wasn't included in our €95 for the suite so they charged us €15 for breakfast the next morning. They brought breakfast to our suite. Based on what we had got everywhere else we stayed in Portugal, this breakfast was extremely over-priced. The other places we stayed gave us an entire all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast for €5 or for €10 per person. For €15 (€7.50 each) at Ha Mar ao Lar we got one small plate of scrambled eggs between us, a basket of bread, a flask of coffee, two glasses of orange juice, an apple, a pear, some slices of cheese, some slices of ham, butter, and jam. This breakfast was sufficient and it was nice but, when I compared it to every other breakfast we had in Portugal, I felt it was very over-priced for what we received. The property has a shared pool which is lovely. The pool area is situated in the perfect location overlooking the bay and the sea.

I went to Há Mar ao Luar to spend a quiet weekend with my friends (we were 9) and everything was perfect. I will point out some of the things we liked, but will probably be unfair and leave important issues behind.... The property has the main building and 3 independent house/cabanas, all of them very well decorated and focused on our comfort (very good beds and linen and fresh breakfast at our doorstep every morning). a delicious swimming pool and an AMAZING view. We've stayed on this independent houses/cabanas. The owner was very nice and made sure that everything could be perfect. We've enjoyed every moment of our stay. THANKS!!!

We stayed in our own little house with a covered veranda, all with the same fantastic view for miles. At night there were fireflies and the friendly dogs barked. We felt cosy and had everything we needed with crisp white sheets on the very comfortable bed. Breakfast of fresh bread and coffee was brought to us each morning and there were some other items in the fridge which was replenished each day. The small kitchen area was equipped with everything you would need if you wanted to cook but the restaurants down the hill are SO good! We were heavily discouraged from walking in the beautiful countryside, as everyone seemed to fear for our safety, but there are lovely walks and hills all around. Everyone was so friendly and eager to help.

We had our own little suite and actually ate in one evening! Very quiet and the view off our terrace was gorgeous! A nice change from the big fancy hotels ..... a very pleasant stay! Breakfast was delivered to our door each morning ....... a real treat!

What a find! Gorgeous little place. We stayed for 3 night off season in September in the windmill for our honeymoon. Decor slightly dated but just added to the charm. There was a lack of a chopping board and cooking utensils like no wooded spoons. This could be very easily sorted and i don't imagine anyone actually cooks there in the evenings. I just needed something to stir my scrambled eggs!!!! the breakfast was perfect and we loved just being left to it. lovely friendly doggy comes to say hello every morning. the view......... breathtaking! the walk into town is 20 mins and dont try the walk back its only 5€ taxi. great beaches close by and the national park is spectacular.

If you would like a really quiet holiday, in a beautiful setting, this is the llace to go. Our apartment was spacious and clean, and the view stunning. This is the sort of place where your privacy and desire for solitude is respected...the staff are never intrusive. Excellent, discreet service, a lovely pool, and a short drive to fabulous beaches and restaurants.

We spent a night in a windmill, how fabulous ! The windmill is on top of the hill, the view is insane and you ll be all alone up there ! The windmill is dated which is why you wouldn't wanna spend more than a night in it ! Go if u like the idea but don t expect fancy ... The property is good / no glamour! Friendly staff! I wouldn't go again but glad i did, if you know what i mean ;)
