Mövenpick Resort Aswan

We stayed for 2N/3D. Room: 3/5. We booked Nile full view and in the name of upgrade they gave us a duplex room with absolutely no view. We didn't expect this. And they didn't ask us if we are comfortable climbing up and down. Felt forced and no choice. Bathroom upstairs was missing a light. Even though the room was nice but disappointed with the no view. We were made to stay in the old block and no choice was given Hospitality: 5/5. Right from the ferry till the bell hop to the reception, everybody was nice, warm and welcoming. Food : 3/5. We requested for breakfast boxes since we were starting early to Abu Simbel and they refused saying they serve breakfast from 4am. Breakfast was basic. Dinner - shawarma was okay, pizza and pasta were bad. Drinks were okay Property : 4/5. Huge property but lacks of signage and not many staff to provide function. We couldnt explore much Restaurant service : 2/5. Poor service, no body comes and asks for order, only one person struggling to handle everyone. Really need to improve on these areas. It's located in Elephantine island which was an experience in itself.

Our room which was on 2 floors was spacious. There were regular boat connections to the mainland which were very good and appreciated. The grounds were spacious and well maintained. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful but this was the exception rather than the rule. The hotel had a 70s vibe in the bedroom decor. It was pleasant but would benefit from refurbishment.

Cleanliness both in our rooms and the corridor that led to reception was inadequate. There was dirt around the edge of our rooms that wasn't vacuumed in the 3 days we stayed at the hotel. The small cover on our bed had a clump of dusty fluff stuck to it. The corridor to reception had several dead flies which were not disposed of in the 3 days. The pillows were not comfortable. We asked for 2 more and we were only given 1 but it was just as bad. We ate in two restaurants. The first one had Egyptian food but it was only of average quality compared to other meals we had on our 3 week holiday. The meal in the Panorama restaurant was OK but not special. The toiletries were vegan and I don't object to that but luckily I only used the handwash as I had my own toiletries too. By the end of the 3rd day the skin on both my hands and my husband's hands was dry, cracked and painful. This has never happened to us before in over 50 years of travel. The final nail in the coffin was when my husband asked for a late checkout the man at reception wanted to charge us a much higher rate than was on the TV screen behind him. When my husband queried this he was told it was only for special circumstances. My husband went back to reception the next day and the lady there gave us the late checkout at the correct rate.

The breakfast is amazing. Great variety and delicious. The view onto the Nile and the tombs of the nobility lit at night were enchanting from the balcony.

The coffee was disappointing. Doing laps in the swimming pool was difficult since there were no markers on the floor of the pool and the pool was an odd shape.

Bed was terribly uncomfortable and the drains smelled very bad.

We spent an excellent and lovely four days at the new Movenpick resort in February during Ramadan 2026. Our stay was made particularly enjoyable by the excellent service during the breakfast seating by waiters Ramadan and Gamal. We are most appreciative to these two men in particular for their kindness and thoughtfulness and hospitality. Paul and Joyce

The arrival and departure at the reception are always very friendly. I know the hotel since 19years. Ali the mainconcierce and Taysser from the guestrelation gave me warmly welcome to spend a very nice time again in the hotel. Shokran 😊👌 The staff with my friend Mahmoud Abd Eldaim and Hamada and the other guys take care for all the guest at pool feel relaxed. The food up on tower was excellent as last year in november with two swiss friends. A lot of staff in the Restaurant regognized me. It‘s always a warm feeling like to come home 🤗🙋‍♀️👍

From check-in till ckeck-out everything was perfect. I know the hotel since 19 years. the concicerce Ali also Taysser from the guest realtion supported me a lot to have a very nice stay again in the hotel. the room was upgradet to a suite, shokran gazilah. The staff with my friend Mahmoud Abd Eldaim and his team with Hamada and the other guis take care for every guest at the pool. The food up on the tower was also awsom as always. And today morning I had a wunderfull breakfast C A lot of staff in the Restaurant regonized me again. It‘s always like coming home 🤗😊 shokran, shokran
