Hikers: stay away unless you only want an uncomfortable bed and no breakfast. I spoke to a woman (who I assume is the owner) and told her that we would be leaving at 6 AM and asked if she would leave some breakfast items out for us. Nothing on the breakfast menu is prepared by the staff, so I didn't think this would be a problem. She adamantly refused to do anything before 8AM, so if you want to leave early and enjoy the beautiful Lake Placid, ADK area, plan on having to eat breakfast somewhere else.

We have stayed here before and are always impressed with how clean and convenient it is. It is not fancy and rooms are small but perfect for a quick visit. Walked into town which was great too.

Spruce Lodge consists of an old house and several newer buildings. The old house where I stayed was clean but quite run down - windows didn't stay open, one wall was apparently just a board (frighteningly unsoundproof), outside stairs were very steep. But kitchen was well equipped and pleasant.

Price is good for this location. Room facing main street, a bit noisy.

Was a nice and quiet bed & breakfast right near downtown

Did not stay the night. No AC in room, no dark curtains. My boys would have been up at 4am. There are also cats on the premises, sign on the door says not to let them out. I am highly allergic to cats. Nice room otherwise

It was a beautiful quaint quiet little place, just what we were looking for. The staff was not the most friendliest, pretty much ignoring you at times when going down to breakfast
