Excellence Riviera Cancun - Adults Only All Inclusive

We just got back from Excellence Riviera Cancun on Tuesday. We went for 10 days and stayed in an Excellence Club Jr Suit - Swim Up Ocean View Room. With the exception of a few things we had a fabulous time. What We Loved: The room was beautiful and loved that I could walk like 5 feet from my sun bed and get in the pool from my deck. The food was amazing and yes the menus have been scaled back but we were never hungry. The mini bar was stocked daily. There were two club pools. One of them was just across from our room and it was very peaceful. While there was no bar, there was service which was pretty fast. We loved the private beach area as well. The Concierge staff (shout out to Mario) made us feel like family. After the first day the sun bed that we liked was set up for us every morning with towels and our sun bed on our deck was set up with towels for when we went back to enjoy our deck in the afternoon. On our last full day Mario an team brought us chocolate dipped strawberries and a Happy Anniversary sign made on a towel with sand. It was beautiful The staff, bartenders an waiter were amazing. Sasha who worked at the Kitchen Table knew our coffee order (double espresso, cappuccino orange juice) by the 2nd breakfast. The bar tenders were amazing. One night I asked Alfredo if he could make a particular drink and I showed him the recipe and he made them for me and they were delicious. One of the other bar tenders at the Martini bar (he was a trainee, name has escaped me) knew I liked to drink White Russians and he woule have one ready when we got there for drinks before dinner. I would also like to give a shout out to some of the wait staff; Moses, Hector, Hugo along with all of the others. The ladies at Aroma were fun an friendly. Elizabeth was amazing. She knew my coffee order by day 2. All the staff made us feel like family while we were there. Now for a few things we did not like/disappointed in. Number one being the Sargassum. It came early this year and at time was extremely stinky. I even woke up to the smell coming in my room one morning but it did not last long. A big shout out to the workers trying to stay on top of it daily. They usually started scooping and trucking it away at 5:00 am. The Sargassum issue made it so that we couldn't go in th water. The last two days there was not as much and I was able to walk a bit along the water's edge. The room got very hot at night despite the AC. We would wake up at night in a ball of sweat and the sheets would be soaked. We did has ask for a fan but did not receive it. I should have also asked for a dehumidifier as the room was very damp. Everything I took regardless if i wore it or not had to be washed as it smelled like the room. On our 2nd day we asked to change out the Whiskey and Vodka to a premium gyn and vodka. We were told on the first day that we could upgrade the liquor as we were in an Excellence Club room but when I went to the Concierge in the main lobby I was told we would have to pay like $75 to $80 USD a bottle. Not overly impressed and based on what I paid for this vacation I should have been able to get it without and additional charge. Overall we had an amazing time. We met some wonderful couples and hope to see them again one day. Would I go back to this resort. YES!

This is one of the best all inclusive adults only hotel we have stayed at which is why we have been going since 2006 and have been about 14 times since

had not been to mixco in an all exclusivefor 15 years I saw the Excellence Riviera had som e good reviews, so booked for 11 days mid march 2026. Bit of a hike from Vancouver,but looking for warm weather. we lovedthis resort, the grounds are quite large, we stayed in 1304 , as all the ocean front were taken. it was a great choice , very peacefull and very calm. i would book this same room again. Daniel who greeted us and slso helped us on departure was wonderful. we stayed in another resort in the same area 15 years ago. at that time i found the food looked fantastic, but tasted all the same. Full marks to the food at this resort looked great, but was fantastic. we went to Chez Jessabelle and ordered the tenderloin, overwhelemed when it arrived as i like good food but not a lot. said to my wife i can not eat all this.I did. eat it all it was that good. JKalebust a great well run resort, we plan to go back. The food was excellent and i am in the food biz. Excellent! i think one of best things at this resort is the staff, they are so warm and genuine. we really liked the following On the orange crew *Kaleb. outstanding customer service, he came up to us when we looked confused. *oste something , i apologize i cannot recall his name. He started the same day as Kaleb great young man. *Max and Martin fanstastic on the aqua size, *Princess Dianna so helpful on everything *The other Princess ~ Angelo was excellent he was hosting a quiz night and made it fun, however there was a computer glitch at the end and no winners, He was wonderful on stage, most of of us would run screaminig A. in Kitchenngelo was able to make it funny and never lost his cool. I /we complimented him the next day in the restaurants There were two that stood out *Yulissa Hostess in Kitchen. Excellent *Carolina Hostess in spice.We thought she had a stressfull job , hostess forthree restaurants any how second last night we chatted with her, a lovely person.when we left spice on our last night she gave my wife a kiss on the cheek. This was warm genuine and from the heart.. My wife was thrilled and still mentions it. i think you have protocals in place , but please do not discipline carolina, she was warm and spontaneous. It was innocent and very well received, by my wife. We enjoyed our stay , this is a well run resort ,loved the lazy river we plan to return. we love the Mexican people Brent & Mary from Canada sory i was no able to add photo's Book with confidence

This is our second time staying in an Excellence Club room at an Excellence resort so we were able to compare it to our previous experience at Playa Mujeres. We had a fantastic experience both times and feel that it is very good value for the money. Every single staff member is so friendly and willing to help. The resort is spotless and well-maintained even though it’s a bit older than Playa Mujeres. We preferred the room layout here. The only infrastructure difficulty we had was that the WiFi could be unreliable, especially at the beach. The entertainment was hit or miss but the circus show was actually insanely impressive! The food was very good, although one member of our party is vegan and was disappointed to find that five of the restaurants had the exact same plant based menu with only two entree options. This was not the case at Playa Mujeres when we went a few years ago. But the waitstaff was always extremely accommodating about asking the chef to craft special vegan meals, especially at Magna. The beach was beautiful with great service (shout out especially to Amable who was fantastic!) but unfortunately the seaweed is a big problem, which obviously the resort has no control over. One day we were there, diesel trucks and bulldozers worked the entire day clearing gigantic piles of it a few yards away on a neighboring property and the smell and noise were pretty bad. Fortunately there are plenty of pools where you won’t be bothered by it! We both agree that the Excellence club is worth it for the more attentive service at the beach and pools, and for Magna, which has the best breakfast by far (shout out to Veronica at Magna, our favorite restaurant server of the trip!). We also loved the food at Basmati which had the best plant-based menu in our opinion. Overall we had a great trip and expect to return to this and other Excellence resorts. Just don’t expect to do any ocean swimming this time of year, unfortunately.

Disappointed that the Lobster House had no Lobsters. You can get frozen lobster tails. Extremely disappointed that the sports bar was closed. March Madness is important to us. You should advertise that when booking. Beach was terrible. The smell was horrible. We know it was no fault of the resort and applaud the effort to clean it up. Don’t like having to get dressed up to go out to eat at night. We are the guests and should be able to dress as we please.

If you are looking for a relaxing vacation in which you will be treated like royalty, this is the place to book. I would highly recommend this spot to everyone that is in need of a well deserved vacation.

Great resort, great staff, very relaxing. This was our second time at the resort. We love it. The only negative is the seaweed on the beach but that’s nature. Loved the rest. We will be back!

Average resort. Check in was horrible. They did not explain amenities etc. Front desk was not busy, but they tried to push us away without explaining property information.

Even though the seaweed was absolutely horrible, they did the best that they could to remove it with large dump trucks and front and loaders. We could not access the water. Service On The Beach was very good, but we were disappointed that pool people would get benefit of food, snacks, and coconuts. We requested and were immediately gratified. The food was a mix. The buffet was excellent. Food was always hot although sometimes they didn’t cook the bacon all the way. Compared to most all inclusive resorts. This is a better choice. I would just caution the resort to do better at making sure that all food that is supposed to be hot is hot to avoid any foodborne poisoning. We had excellent service at the buffet and actually all of the restaurants had excellent service. Except for Mexican.
