Location, very peaceful, fabulous swimming pool and hot springs.

It advertises the food as being exceptional and the meal on the first night was excellent but the meal on the last night did fall short of expectations. It would be nice to have option of a fruit plate for breakfast as well as a cooked option. We were advised that yoga was at a cost of $50 per class which we thought was very expensive so didn’t take part in that.

We loved our stay at the idyllic Borinquen Resort. The best part is the people - each and every staff member is very friendly, determined to give excellent service, and you can tell they are all happy to be there. We felt sad to leave after our 4 night stay - somehow we felt part of a big family by then. We dined each night at the restaurant and the food was truly exceptional and the vibe was upscale. The grounds of the resort are magical. Rustic, yet impeccably maintained. From trails to hike, hot springs to bathe in, mud baths to slather on, and a gorgeous pool with a swim up bar to imbibe at, there is always something to do. We want to give a special shout out to Adolfo. He takes service to the next level. And we were lucky to have him be our bartender at the swim up bar one afternoon- he was so much fun to get to know and makes killer drinks. One note: our only complaint has to do with the pool situation. The pool itself is incredible - the design is unique and it's much bigger than we thought it was based on photos we saw. There are so many little pools to find nestled in and around the main pool. Here's the problem - there is almost no shade other than your own shadow - so you basically just have to cook in the sun if you want to sit by the pool. And the chairs and tables could use some love. There are already a gazillion reviews complaining about this one detail. Does the owner of the resort not read the comments? The staff works so hard to give the guests a 5 star experience - the owner should listen to the reviews and do his part. Our suggestion is to build a few small palapas around the pool so folks can move chairs into the shade if they want to. Despite this flaw, we will be back for sure!

We had very mixed feelings about our stay. The location was lovely and we saw many birds and animals on property. However, although the staff was very friendly, we found them under-trained and unsupervised. Regarding questions about the room, we were met with responses like “I can't do that” or “I don't know”. No one took the initiative to try to problem solve. We tried to get details about the excursions or other things to do in the area but the answer were wanting in actual helpful information. We didn't do any of the excursions as we couldn't get good information on what was involved. We did manage to go for a hike around the property on our own and drove ourselves over to the National Park. In the restaurant we had to ask multiple times every meal to get our drinks brought over, or coffee refilled or to be given bread. We often sat there for 15-20 minutes before anyone spoke to us at all. As there is nothing else nearby, you are captive to their restaurant. There was a lovely pool but there were way too few chairs for the number of people staying there. This made worse by a couple of large groups and that there were people in the pool area that had come in from outside the resort. There was also no shade or wifi there. We provided feedback and hopefully they will listen as the problems have easy solutions.

Great location

Too manicured for my liking . One restaurant closed ( permanently ?) the other over priced and average quality . Steam room no longer exists. Appears to be poorly managed

5* venue , 1* restaurant, what a beautiful place to stay, as most people say, but the service in the only restaurant….. oh my, it’s just diabolical, the slowest ever. Spoiled the experience.
