House of 1833 Bed and Breakfast

We left rhe premises after viewing the property and found a different place to stay. Upon entering, the inn felt very cluttered, unkempt, musty, and creepy. The TV in the kitchen was on and 2 dogs were barking at us. We arrived an hour early and, understandably the room wasn't ready, so we waited by the pool for the host to 'run a vacuum' in our room. The furniture around the pool was in disrepair, the garden and grass was overgrown and unkempt, and there were painters working on the stairway to our room, so the outside entrance wasn't available. We noticed there was still food left on a table in the dining room from the breakfast. Furniture was very old and musty looking, certainly not the feeling of antiques. The room was very nice and would have been ok if it wasn't for the rest of the rest of the house and property being in such disarray. The host was very nice, but looked unkempt as well. The kitchen, what we saw of it was a mess as well, certainly not one we'd like our food prepared in. We did get a 50% refund by the host and expect to get the rest of the refund from Booking.com if they could just get back to us on this as promised.

Evan, the owner, is a gem! He is very knowledgeable about the area, has great recommendations on things to do, places to eat, etc. He welcomed us into his amazing home and made us feel very welcome. His home is filled with beautiful and interesting family heirlooms, and Evan graciously made us feel at home. His gourmet breakfasts were beyond the beyonds from the fresh squeezed orange juice to the homemade pastries to the delicious protein-rich main dishes. We were very happy with our stay.

We had such a wonderful, restorative stay! Evan is the most amazing host! The place is so magical and with so many historic treasures to behold! Our room was so cozy and loved relaxing by the fire! Our welcome sherry was delightful! The breakfast was soo delicious!!Excellent location! Thank you for such an enchanting stay!
