Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancún - A Karisma All-Inclusive Experience for All

Property was older but very nicely kept! Seaweed was awful and only removed the day we left. The breeze and location was perfect!

This resort doesn’t offer buffet style they only offer it for breakfast and not a lot of options to choose from. Plus, they also water down all their drinks.

Resort overall was terrific, although I thought the food could be better. Service was impeccable. Did not leave the property as the resort is a bit of a distance from the main road, which was preferred.

Property was really cute & quaint. There was too much seaweed in the water.

Food is amazing (taste and variety). My son and partner like the breakfast the most. The rooms and setting are gorgeous and clean. And the staff is absolutely adorable! Go for it!

While the resort was very clean and the staff were friendly the food was unfortunately not great! The first night we enjoyed a buffet on the beach and my husband woke up with mild food poisoning, we figure it was from the shrimp as i dont eat seafood and i was fine. The food at the italian restaurant was the best but the pasta was overcooked. The food at the Latino restaurant was very bland and didn't come as advertised on the menu. The room service was horrible, our airplane food was of better quality. The drinks were good, however there wasnt a large margarita menu chalkboard like you see in the resort photos. The positives were that the resort is right on the beach and the cleanliness. We had a great view from our room but it wasn't anything fancy. Due to the fact that we love good food we wont be back.

This was by far the best all-inclusive resort I’ve ever stayed at! The property itself is absolutely beautiful, with countless spots around the resort to sit back, relax, and take in the scenery. The food was amazing—Rita’s Tacos became our go-to for lunch every day, and the tacos were consistently excellent. In the evenings, we really enjoyed the à la carte restaurants for dinner, each offering a great atmosphere and delicious meals. One of our favorite places to unwind was The Compass Bar. It was the perfect spot for evening drinks, and Manuel was a true pro when it came to crafting cocktails—definitely a highlight of the trip. I also appreciated that there were plenty of activities available throughout the day, but there was never any pressure to join in. They didn’t interfere with the peaceful vibe of the resort, which was a big plus. The beach was stunning, and I loved the overall size of the resort. It felt safe, cozy, and never too crowded. There were plenty of pools and bars to choose from, so it was easy to find a spot that suited our mood. Although the resort is family-friendly, we came with a group of adults and stayed near the adults-only pool and spent most of our time there. It was quiet and relaxing, and we were never disturbed by kids. All in all, I would absolutely recommend this resort—and I already have! If you’re considering it, don’t hesitate. You won’t be disappointed.

2nd visit at this property we love this property. Only disappoinment this year was the front desk welcome and ambassador staff. Actually rude when inquiring about assistance with needs after check in. In years past they were warm welcoming happy to have you at their property. Margaritas and flipflops to welcome smiling Happy staff, not this year unfortunately. We transfered from another property so did not arrive at a busy time they left out luggage at curb unattended we had to ask them to tend to. Our island ambassador was nice and efficient checking us in and assisting with any dinner reservations. All other staff servers and bartenders were wonderful!! Could not say enough great things about them. They made the week and carried out the “Jimmy Buffet Island Vive” Hoping the change in management over the last year doesnt impack anymore rudness. This was our second time staying at Margaritaville in Cancun and once again we absolutely loved it. The staff were all super friendly and helpful and made for an extremely enjoyable experience, and all the food/drinks were delicious. I was unable to drink alcohol and they went out of their way to make me delicious drinks nonetheless. We did notice that some areas of the property seemed a bit run down compared to 3 years ago (namely the signage at Rita’s for example), but all of the facilities, including the beach chairs, public areas, and our room were clean and comfortable.

There are few things that make me consider other resorts for the next time, the food quality was good but you have to wait a long time to get your order, except the breakfast nothing is self service which is not good, you have to order from menu and wait, specially if it’s busy. It was very windy everyday all day long, it’s fine when it’s sunny otherwise might feel chilly when you get out of water before noon and afternoon.(we were there mid April) And at the time of check out they charge us $270 pesos extra for resort tax which it wasn’t mentioned when we booked it, it’s not much but I don’t like any hidden charges. Staff were nice and friendly also room service was good.
