"Best location, but noisy room..."

6.0

Stayed in the King Studio Suite for the first night on a 2 night stay. Location is undeniably the best in Santa Barbara midway up State Street next to Paseo Nuevo. Our room faced another room window across a small courtyard space. While "small" to call it a "suite", the room was clean and usable. However, facing across another room made it feel dark and tight. The front desk staff - Tommy and Hayden - were very helpful in accommodating. They moved us to a much bigger corner room with open sunny views of the beautiful mountains. Everything seemed great until the evening when all sorts of noises started an orchestra. A recurring subtle yet annoying whirring sound came from the AC ducts while another set of recurrent noise came from above the bedroom ceiling. Turning off the AC stopped the AC duct sound, but the other set of sounds did not stop. There was nothing the staff can do. Now that I read the reviews, this sound issue seems to be an ongoing issue. Location, breakfast at Finch & Fork downstairs, helpful staff were all great, but if you are sensitive to nonstop, recurring sounds, it may not work for you.

"Nice hotel, but don’t expect a spa resort"

6.0

Not quite a luxury resort. We stayed for 4 nights, and first had a premium king with balcony. Room was nice but smallish, with one chair. We were upgraded to a king suite thru Amex. We gained space but gave up view and airiness, which they explained. They sent a bottle of sparkling wine and strawberries for my birthday, which was very nice of them. Pool: is 3’ deep and small. Don’t expect to do laps. Restaurant: manager John was great. Very friendly and greeted us each time we walked by. breakfast was really lacking. I asked to substitute something and they said no. The potatoes they serve in the morning are terrible. Morning team was overwhelmed and could not keep up. The manager on duty in the morning didn’t seem to pitch in, just looked at what tables were open. Valet team: great. Very nice and attentive Front desk team: just okay. Don’t expect concierge service from them. Noise: you will hear your neighbors. Our neighbors had a dog that I think was left along and it would howl. Also, lots of kids and you will hear them. If I were going to Santa Barbara again I would look for more of a spa resort, this wasn’t it, but they did upgrade my room and they did send sparkling wine and strawberries. I just thought it would be more of a spa hotel.

"Noisy room"

2.0

Slow service, no response even after notifying them at least three times about the noisy background noise from the HVAC which kept us up at night for all three nights. The only solution was wear ear plugs which did not help.

"Marvelous Hotel experience in Santa Barbara!"

10.0

Hotel was a treat in beautiful Santa Barbara where every day is remarkable! Valet parking is worth it! Hotel staff treated us very well! Enjoyed the daily wine tasting event between 5-6 pm. Front desk answered all our many questions. Room was incredible with four poster bed. Robes and slippers were provided. Bathroom had both shower and tub with provided bath salts. Hotel was close to many nearby attractions. Great views and swimming pool on upper deck. Enjoyed the hotel restaurant. Will return again to this magnificent hotel.

"We LOVED our stay except for 2 items"

8.0

Absolutely love Kimpton properties. My friend and I stayed 4 nights, 5 days. Check-in was easy, very friendly staff (Kimberly was GREAT). The valet was fast and efficient. We were upgraded to a suite which was wonderful. The room location was very quite, no noise issues. Plenty of room in the living room, bathroom and bedroom, a lot of charm. The rooms seem very clean and well equipped with a mini refrigerator Nespresso machine and robes. The only item missing oddly in the rooms are hotel luggage racks. We went up to the roof to see the pool, looked nice, it was empty due to the cooler weather temps in Santa Barbara during our stay. We did enjoy the "Wine Happy Hour" and the complementary Coffee station in the morning. There are ice machines on every floor and on the ice machine you can also get filter water for your water bottles. To note: it is a dog loving paradise at the hotel, dogs everywhere, big dogs little dogs, I love dogs so I had fun watching all of them. OK, so our only 2 criticisms are is the fee for parking per day $55... crazy! The second criticism is why can't the hotel spare space for a small gym? The hotel is affiliated with a Free 24 hour gym, "Key 2 Gym" which worked out great, BUT it's a 16 minute walk... a 1.07miles. Might not seem much, but I work out daily at 5:00AM to get it out of the way. Walking on State Street at 4:45 AM in the dark, when the only people on the street are the aggressive homeless does not make me feel safe at all. Other than those 2 items, we loved our stay!

"Well located in Santa Barbara"

8.0

Nice hotel, comfortable room, convenient valet parking with helpful staff. Very grateful to Kimberly at front desk who was super nice and gave us excellent recommendations. Walkable area, near State St restaurants. Santa Barbara is wonderful, would love to go back. Only reason why did not give a full 5 is because it was rather expensive for a nice, but not luxury hotel. Still, great stay over a long weekend in a beautiful town.

"Avoid"

2.0

Lame hotel vibes, booked with chase, got nothing from them in terms of “benefits”. Should have stayed in lower state street, why better bang for your buck. Room service online ordering was not working, finally got sub par food, pool was cold af, fitness center was 2 miles away and under construction. $55 valet for guests is bs. Pretty sub par hotel
