Cardiff By The Sea Lodge

Great location - steps to the beach. The roof top is cute, with a nice view of the ocean. I like that it’s an outdoor hotel, with not a ton of rooms. I accidentally booked a wheelchair accessible room and got upgraded to a room with an ocean view which I was pleased with! The room was big, bed was OK. Pillows were cozy and plentiful! Nice bathroom. Cosy robes!! They also provide muffins, yogurt and juice for breakfast, which they offer to bring to your room - this is a sweet touch, although sadly I am GF/DF so I could only have a juice - it was delicious. There’s a coffee shop across the street that is delicious - Rose Hill. As well as good gelato with DF GF options, Little Fox. It’s a cute town!

I was on the bottom floor, which I loved until around 6am when the room above me woke up and the kids were running around as loudly as possible it seemed lol until about 930am. There was loud talking, loud walking and running for hours which made me sad and disrupted my one day of this week to sleep in :’) of course, this is not the hotel’s fault. But it is important to note if you hope to sleep in and might be on the bottom floor. I got up to ask for ear plugs at the front desk - which unfortunately barely helped, yes it was that loud. I’ve never had this problem before so I was shocked that even ear plugs couldn’t solve it. I thought to tell the front desk but who am I to kill children’s joy of running around? lol. Otherwise — it is a cute hotel that’s been on my list for a while, but for the price - I’m not sure I would run it back.

Beautiful, clean, charming with nice views. Enjoyed borrowing vinyl to play in my room.

Noise outside. Noise inside. Refrigerator was so loud we had to unplug it

The rooftop was peaceful and relaxing with the comfy egg chairs. The location was great to walk to the beach and restaurants and it was nice to take a longer walk up the coast to the little downtown area of Encinitas. The coffee shop across the street was really good and their bagels were outstanding (must go when they open at 7, as the locals say they run out before 8). The room was big, cute, had a fridge, and the shampoo smelled great. Isabelle was sweet and helpful. The parking garage was convenient.
