"It is very special"

8.0

My five stars went down to four probably based on intermittent poor internet coverage. But, if I was that keen on checking my phone I shouldn't really have booked a room at the Loch Rannoch Hotel. I should have thrown the phone into the loch on day 1.

"Excellent Stay"

10.0

My husband and I spent 2 nights here with our dog and had an excellent experience. Our room was very spacious, clean and beautifully decorated and had a wee package for our dog which was a nice touch. We had 2 lovely meals in the Wild Brownie Bar and enjoyed drinks in the Whisky Bar (special mention to Telmo for the excellent espresso martinis!). The terrace at the front was a brilliant place to relax in the sun. We used the leisure facilities on one day and these were lovely, one of the best saunas we have used. The wait and bar staff at the hotel were outstanding, so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning!

"Wonderful location, hotel and the best staff"

10.0

We had 4 rooms booked for a family stay at the weekend and received excellent service, top class food, beautiful hotel that was very well maintained, spotlessly clean and great facilities. My dogs were given biscuits often by staff members and they left crumbs behind which magically disappeared the next time we walked past. The view from the hotel over Loch Rannoch is simply stunning.

"Highland break"

10.0

The location is stunning and our two night stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The dog friendly room was huge and spotlessly clean, and we were provided with a dog bed, dog towel and dog treats so our Honey spaniel settled immediately. Staff were friendly and efficient and we were delighted with the service provided by Maddy, who looked after us at dinner and breakfast, all with a smile and special cuddles for the dog

"Great location and ideal location"

8.0

As said, the location is great, standing as it does by the beautiful Loch Rannoch. We spent a week in mid September at the hotel. Our room was a Loch view with splendid views of the mountain. In addition to visiting Pitlochry and the surrounding areas, we used the opportunity to catch the train from Rannoch Station to Mallaig via Fort William, and the again from the station to Corrour for a walk around Loch Ossian. Staff at the hotel were mostly helpful. Breakfast and Brownie bar for evening meals very good. The blott on our week’s experience was when one of the e-bikes hired from the hotel ran out of power 25 minutes or so before the four hour rental period. These things do happen, but we did expect some kind of acknowledgment when we reported that this entailed pushing a heavy bike up and down inclines for two miles in order to return to the hotel. Several requests for feedback from management have been completely ignored. For a four- star hotel this simply isn’t good enough.

"Could be so much better."

6.0

Bedroom was lovely. Fabulous shower. Great view of loch. Most of the staff were unhelpful and confrontational. Due to this I would not go back.

"Great place. Just falls short in some areas."

8.0

This place is a conundrum. It has huge potential and almost gets it right but falls just short in many places. The hotel is in need of a site wide refurb. But don’t get me wrong this is still an excellent place to stay. The staff were very helpful and kind. The room was spacious, quiet and very clean. And view from room was spectacular. The bed was comfy and we had a great sleep throughout. The bathroom was very dated but functional, and there were scuff marks and chipped paint all over. The Prosecco pre-ordered for room was there and presented with lovely card from manager, but it was warm and not in a champagne bucket with ice, which you would expect for a 4 star hotel. The hotel itself is very clean but it is clear that it needs major investment to bring it up to a proper 4/5 star rating. Decor is dated, there are maintenance issues and it just needs some general TLC. The service in the Wild Brownie was excellent but food was quite disappointing. A 4 star hotel would have top level bar food so this was a disappointment. We would not go back. On the other hand our experience at The Estate Room was excellent with great service and wonderful food. Overall the hotel is trying to be a 4 star hotel but just falls short with the small details. I know without a rich investor it can’t be easy to, but if this hotel shut down for a few months and updated all the rooms and hotel with top end decor and modern bathrooms and focus on some of the smaller details this place would be more than 4 stars and worth more than the price we paid per night. But just now as it is I find price slightly steep for what you get. I definitely still recommend staying here though as Loch Rannoch is a spectacular location and hotel still delivers a great place to stay to explore local area.

"Flawless service, stunning location and fantastic facilities."

10.0

We stayed with our little daughter last night (Sun 28th) and had a brilliant time. Shout out first for the staff, they could not be more accomodating for our needs. Blonde woman behind the bar was lovely first of all, then Jamie was an excellent waiter during both dinner and breakfast. Josh the receptionist was lovely during check out also. Dinner was delicious, I had the pork belly. There is a wide selection of excellent draught beers available and the place had a great atmosphere, families playing board games and locals coming in to use the snooker/pool upstairs. The facilities are excellent, I used the gym and we all used the pool, which was a great size. The views to the schiehallion are stunning and it's all built perfectly around the loch. It was an amazing experience all round and one where I'd like to come back at one point.
