The Westin Bear Mountain Resort & Spa, Victoria

The room was perfect!

They were filming a movie at the hotel. When we arrived the pool was closed to the hotel guests. We were only staying for one night with friends that had just flew in from California. We had kids and a big reason we chose this hotel was for the kids to have a dip in the pool after a long day of travel. Very disappointed we were never made aware of this prior to our arrival, specially since we were only there for one night and had to leave early in the morning. The parking was totally full because of film trucks and we had to stay in a far off underground, and still pay $30 per car… we had two. Was not overly impressed with the guest service.

Nice hotel. Good restaurant and bar. Great staff. Very clean and classy. The hotel has had a split with the golf courses and the pool/gym complex. So to use the gym or pool you must pay. That is $45 per person/per day. We paid $450+ for a very small room. Beds were great and we had a nice view but it was cramped. Small rooms, pool and gym not included in price.....not impressed!!! For a 4 star Westin Hotel it was very underwhelming

Beautiful hotel and grounds. Room was spacious and I loved having a full kitchen to cook in. It’s fully equipped which made it very easy to cook meals. The massage chair was an added bonus and felt like you were actually getting a message. Staff are all very well trained and a pleasure to interact with. I will definitely be back!

Las vistas muy bonitas.

Un hotel de cinco estrellas que no ofrece los servicios esperados, ni el personal está a la altura. Ni mucho menos se trata de un hotel de la categoria que prodigan. Una decepcion, buscar otras opciones. Resevamos una habitacion con una cama, doble extra grande, nos dieron una habitacion con dos camas. Al reclamarlo no han sabido dar ninguna explicacion. Para ver alguna pelicula desde el Smart TV hay que pagar 25$CAD. El servicio de habitacion a las 16:00h no estaba hecho, y hemos tenido que reclamarlo. la limpieza de la habitacion ha sido de 5 minutos escasos. La piscina llena de crios gritando y ocupando las tumbonas, hemos tenido que sentarnos a tomar el sol en la terraza de la cafeteria. El servicio de gente inexperta, y muy joven sin capacidad de poder gestionar ninguna situacion adversa. Todo de pago, y no barato

Whoever heard of a hotel residents' bar closing at 10.00?! Even though Reception gave me a parking pass, the carpark was full.

I have stayed a few times at this property, but I am not impressed with my stay this time at all. I am a Marriot platinum member and have stayed at many properties around the world and this one just doesn't live up to my expectations. At check in, not upgrade was offered even though a search on the app showed many better rooms available. The room I was put in had a connecting room with loud people in there and it sounded like they were in our room with us. I tried calling the front desk to see if there could be a solution, but I just got busy signals every time I tried. I wanted to connect my computer to the large screen in the room, but they completely lock down all other inputs besides for their standard TV. If you want to watch a movie, it's $25+tax (which is probably why it's locked down, so you don't connect your own streaming service to the screen) no way to connect your Netflix account like normal hotels . I asked for a late check out, the man at the front desk didn't even look at the computer, just said right away that they were not offering late checkout today. A search on the app shows rooms available to book still, so I don't think they are completely full. In the morning, I went to the lobby for a cup of coffee, almost every hotel I have stayed in offered coffee in the morning. This property charged me $8 for a simple black coffee in the lobby (minimum tip for them to pour it from the premade pitcher into a cup was 18%). They also had a film crew filing right in the front of the hotel both days. Every time I had to go or come, I had to wait for the scene to end filming before I could pass. Quite an inconvenience. Overall, not good value for $450 per night. This will probably be my last stay at the Westin Bear Mountain.

If you’re considering staying at this hotel, I strongly recommend thinking twice. Some staff members let their personal bad days affect how they treat guests. Unfortunately, even being a Marriott elite member doesn’t shield you from poor service or a dismissive attitude. What should’ve been a relaxing holiday turned into a stressful experience. Hotels should prioritize professionalism and not let guest experiences suffer because of employee mood swings.
