Hotel Trident Poseidon

Good staff, good restaurant, an overall good experience.

The nite I got there didn't realize I left key in room nite gaurd not there For some reason. I had to sleep in fn car. That left a bad taste in my mouth. The next day I explain this and day staff wanted to argue saying gaurd was there. Big boo!!

I guess you get what you pay for. I had booked this hotel because I read the comments before me and they all said the staff was friendly, the food was great, and the location was great. Well 2 out of 3 I guess. The front desk was not friendly at all. The food was great but REALLY expensive. You can get great tasting food just down the street at Rustico's. $7.00 and you get a huge plate of deliciousness and a drink. But the location really was great. You are right up the street from the beach and surrounded by tons of shops and restaurants and bars. And the COCKROACHES!!! Our very first night there we came back to our room to find the biggest cockroach I've ever seen on the wall. The front desk closes at 10pm so there was no one we could call to kill it or get another room. So we had to kill it. It kept us up all night thinking more were around and we just felt gross. The next morning I went to the front desk to tell them about it and the man looked stunned but did nothing about it. I told him that I paid in advanced through Expedia so I had to stay but that I would like free transport to the airport. He brushed me off and said ok. But at check out he said that could not be done and I had to pay $100.00. I was stunned by the lack of hospitality and the treatment I got from the front desk staff (everyone else was nice).

Decent place to stay for a night or two. Short walk to the beach and shopping. Staff are welcoming. Pool is small but clean. Rooms are clean, linens are in good shape. Mattress is lumpy and springs are uncomfortable unfortunately. Music from the bar plays until 1am or so, beware.

Hotel is dirty overall and just looks tired. Staff is tired and not interested. Who can blame them as Jacó is basically an overrun slum, filled with backpacking partyers. Trash is everywhere, it's noisy, and this is not Costa Rica. Rooms need updating and are dirty with mild growing in the showers.

When we arrived to Hote Poseidon, we expected it to be less than thrilling. Home room entry, we were surprised at how clean it was for the price you pay. (We had just left a hotel with similar price that was small and dirty). Overall, it's a great budget hotel that we were comfortable staying in and if we ever travel back to Jacó, we will make it a point to stay here again.

AMAZING RESTAURANT ATE THERE AS MUCH AS WE COULD ! TUNA STEAK, SOUP FISH AND CHIPS, NACHOS, ALL DELICIOUS. staff was al vry nice

The hotel feels cramped in every respect. The room we stayed in was dark. The swimming pool is small, and enclosed, and sees very little or no sunlight. The walk to the beach is just long enough to be a nuisance. We ended up moving to another hotel just down the road, on the beach, with a beautiful beach bar, swimming pool, and beachfront, and all this for only $20 more per night. I would not recommend The Poseidon Hotel as a good choice to stay in Jaco.

Very friendly staff, great services. The food was excellent. The lights in the room are quite dim unfortunately. The swimming pool is quite small but perfect for young children.

Scheduled a 7 night stay starting on a Saturday. 2 weeks prior to arrival, I rescheduled the arrival date with Expedia for 2 days later (Monday check-in). The hotel did not receive the rescheduled arrival from Expedia, & hotel mgmt called it a "no show", which cost me over $200.00. We had a change in our itinerary, which caused a early check-out. I provided a 49 hr advanced notice of the early check-out to front desk, as well as the owner. The owner said to me "I don't want to lose any money", and would not honor the advanced checkout date and then charged my credit card. I requested a refund of the 4 unstayed nights charges, which was denied. Owner did offer a $200.00 credit in the hotel restaurant as compensation for the $400.00 charged for the un-stayed nights. A 3 nights stay at this hotel cost me over $700.00, with only a $200.00 compensation in the restaurant (a $200.00 loss to me). The first night was terrible. One bed was like sleeping in a hammock (big sag in the middle), the other bed was rock hard. We requested a different room, and the request was honored. The second room was much better. But must say "I would not recommend this hotel". Pets allowed & I watched a dog urinate in the pool, some bad beds, no refunds, etc. However, the hotel/restaurant staff was outstanding, and the restaurant food was delicious. I am accustomed to a little better quality hotel & better understanding from mgmt. Sorry to say, "I cannot recommend this hotel".
