Highland Manor Inn

Let me start by saying the facility itself is nice. The room was clean and cozy. The only reason I am giving a 1 star is for how the OWNER treated us. We go to check in and I accidentally booked the wrong hotel (was suppose to be the Tremont but booked here instead) not a huge deal except they don’t accept pets. I asked BEFORE getting our room key if this was okay as they are service animals and if not we could get a refund and go elsewhere. The front staff lady said yes this is fine, I then ask if she needed proof, she said no we actually can’t ask for them just have to take your word. I said okay, then double checked we would not be charged the fees and she agreed we would not. We go on about our weekend (stayed 3 nights) as we are loading the car to check out the owner BARGED in and started YELLING at us saying we are in violation, that these are not service animals and we need to leave the premises immediately and we will be charged fees. I was so appalled at her whole behavior!! It is one thing to kindly ask to see proof but to barge in, accusing and yelling at a paying customer?? Not to mention when we were packing up to leave. Not the first or second or even third night we were there but as we were leaving!? My boyfriend is a hot head and started yelling back, but as I was pulling up my papers I got her email and sent them to her. I asked her to make sure she got my email confirmation and that we would not be charged and she rudely said, “ I don’t know, I haven’t checked the room yet” implying that we trashed it or something? So at this point I was very angry and told her if you try charging my card anymore than the price we originally paid I will dispute and we will NOT be back. An hour goes by and I go back to the hotel front desk to not only get the lady’s name that checked us in that night but also to confirm our room was okay (because I knew it was). This was a different front desk lady and she was also very kind saying she sent out or goodbye email, and that the room and all of our things were 0 balances good to go. I thanked her, also got her name and went on our way. Due to the owners poor behavior we will definitely not be back. But thank you to both the front desk women for being so kind and helpful!

Shower gell would be nice and only one very small tube of shampoo. Ice machine was not easily accessible from our room. Up a hill and across parking lot

I hate giving a negative report but feel people need the information to make a good decision. It was for only one night. I was ready to check out. The hotel is very dated and I usually don’t take that into by rating. I felt it was not clean. Bugs on counter, old food in microwave, and bed lamp switch kept flickering which made cpat machine cut off Balcony door was almost impossible to open and a small window in dressing area would not close. It was broken made the room very cold. The heating./air condition unit was very noisy cutting on and off made the room very dry. It was just a very uncomfortable night.

Lady at check-in, was not very personable, not courteous at all. She told us they weren't busy, so we asked to change one of the rooms we rented to be closer to the other room, (we would pay the difference if any) She said there was no way to do that since we booked thru Booking.com, actually she was quite rude about it. Breakfast was nominal at best, coffee was terrible and no eggs.

Staff was very kind, thorough, helpful. Check in easy. Parking free. Room super clean, good wifi. Location excellent - minutes from entrance to GSMNP. When I mentioned wanting coffee before 8:00, staff kindly lent me a coffee maker with supplies for the room on my last night. Very kind!

Loud dehumidifier. No breakfast or hot coffee until 8 a.m. No eggs or whole fresh food for breakfast. Styrofoam plates and plastic flatware.

Older but great property, very clean and comfortable. When was the last you bought sodas from a machine for $1.00. Great ovation for The Great Smokey Mountains.
