"Dissapointed "

4.0

Hotel room had no window, it was dark and depressing. In the evening was really noisy late into the night with bars/clubs leaving. Single bed in room wasn’t that comfortable and lack of pillows did not help.

"Must do better for the price"

4.0

For the price paid, no inclusive cooked breakfast was very stingy and leaving bags in the reception area without tags or proof of identity to pick up was not secure and they had no option for early check in.

"Perfect for my needs."

8.0

Hotel was ideal for what I required for a place to stay after a day at Ayr races. The staff were very helpful and allowed me to change into my suit the morning of the races and before the check in time. The breakfast room and what was served was really good for both the continental and cooked options. My only small gripe is that the price for a single person double room including breakfast only dropped by £1 from the same room with two people. Also on the back of this when checking in a form is to be signed to say no one else can stay in the room if required which seems pedantic and cheeky in the grand scheme of things for the price difference. So in hindsight just take the double room for less hassle and no comeback.

"Good"

6.0

Very good location to transportation and shopping. The location though is in a area of seemingly seedy night life with loud hollering, drunkenness, etc. in the streets late into the night interrupting our sleep etc. The breakfast was good and the staff was friendly and helpful overall. The room bathroom needs a thorough tile cleaning. The spiral staircase between floors needs new carpet and tile cleaning .

Did not realize there was no elevator when making reservations at a hotel with 4 stories or 5 stories if you count the breakfast room to the rooms numbered 4xx. I had a room on the 4th floor

"Disappointing, especially the lack ofwelcome"

4.0

My room was several floors up a wide spiral stone staircase. No lift that I could see. Basic but OK. The bed was fine (other than having a hard wooden edge round it that caught you when you got out of bed). The window was half open (outer window of two) and the lace curtain billowing out but it was firmly stuck open. I didn't ask for help because I had checked in very late and, as a single woman, didn't want to ask the night porter up to my room. I reported it the next morning to the guy on reception and he just shrugged. He said he'd heard it before. I said "Aren't you bothered?" and he said he was just going off duty and to speak to the next guy, which I did. Marginally more interested. Breakfast was in a basement with no windows. No welcome when I got there so I hung around. Eventually the ladies behind the cooked station told me to sit down. No signs explaining what was what (e.g. which was hot water). Underwhelming breakfast and very loud clattering from the kitchen all the time. I wasn't expecting luxury but it was the staff attitude that depressed me. It costs nothing to be smiling and welcoming!

"Great Central Hotel"

8.0

The room was clean, fresh and up to date. There were no frills and you had to be fit to do the stairs with luggage but for one night was perfect, Staff were personable and efficient.
