Porta Hotel Antigua

Stayed for two nights just as a quick weekend getaway with the family, including our toddler. We spent most of it by the pool or on the playground - it’s a great place for families if you want to have some stuff for the kids to do and still be just a quick walk from Antigua’s central park. Will definitely be back.

We had a great stay at this beautiful hotel located in a convenient part of the colonial town of Antigua. Our room was comfortable and clean and the air conditioning was cold. The views of the volcanoes are amazing. I write this review having just finished a delicious breakfast in the hotel’s Los Moros restaurant. Special GRACIAS to our friendly server Gladys. Fabulous Stay at Porta Hotel - both the rooms and restaurant amazing! We loved Gladis and the whole staff. Fantastic music, pool area, loved taking to the Macaws, sitting in the bar. Location was great to walk all of the city very easily. Wonderful shop too!

I stayed in the Porta Hotel for 5 nights. Unfortunately, I made a big mistake in choosing the room-category. Because I thought, the rooms in the Annexo are more quiet, I have chosen such a room. What I did not know, this rooms are in a former monestary and are darker than a prison cell. You must have light the whole day. After the arrival I went to the reception and asked for a room change - of course by paying the difference for an other category. The Lady at the reception was not very helpful and interested in hearing my wish. She told me just it is not possible. Therefore, I stayed 5 nights in my "cell". And I was a good guest - I took dinner every day in the Hotel Restaurant. And the Restaurant was really good, excellent breakfast, good food in general and friendly staff. The Restaurant is the reason, that I give 2 points - otherwise I would have given just 0. Such rooms should not be sold for more than 1 night - and I stayed 5! Additionally to the horrible room, the laundry has temporarily a pair of shorts. I was already asked about the buying ptrice of the shorts - but the found the shorts the other day.

I had a memorable experience at this resort. everything was just perfect. the rooms, the restaurant, the service and location, all were just wonderful. I highly recommend staying at this resort if you plan a trip to Guatemala. very positive experience all around.

There were cockroaches in the room

Nice hotel! Convenient to shopping and restaurants. Very helpful staff as well.

The hotel is very good, service is great, the restaurant very good, and it's very well located for pretty much everything you'd want to do in Antigua. Our only issue is we were "upgraded" from a King Garden room to a suite. Had we been told the suite (which had 2 double beds vs. 1 king bed), was right next to the street, we would have declined. Hearing traffic noise and people chatting as they walked past wasn't ideal. This was the only negative, the front desk agent should have clearly explained this to us.

I loved the location, however I didn’t like that the upgraded bedrooms had a shower and no updated wall chargers for phones, our standard bedroom had more updated features.
