Bed was comfortable. Mexican restaurant was pretty good and service was good. The hotel its self is in disrepair. Pool was closed. Not the cleanest place. No coffee maker in room, microwave didn’t work in room. Security door that was supposed to be locked at night wasn’t. I don’t think I’d stay there again

"MOLD, BEDBUGS, DILAPIDATED BUILDINGS THEY HAVE IT ALL"

Checked in with my family this past weekend for a getaway to carowinds. First thing we notice when we arrived were the dirty leaking water spots on almost every ceiling in the lobby to go along with the musty spoiled stale air smell. This just sparked confidence in the right decision. Upon checking in for two rooms with a double bed I was met with a 100 dollar deposit for each of the rooms totaling 200 dollars in total. This will be important for later in the review. I get our room keys and we go to the third floor rooms 314 and 316 we’re the “lucky” winners. Right off the rip as soon as we get inside we’re met with the same smell again except worse. The room looks absolutely nothing like the pics on the website. The bed was unmade, we noticed several mattresses and rolls of carpets thrown out indicating possible bed bug infestations. The carpet in the room was so torn I tripped back into the room. The doors on the conjoining rooms both had mold from top to bottom, every door was broke or jimmy rigged to work. The room next door was almost the exact same condition prompting us to request new rooms. I went downstairs and did just that and asked to see the replacement rooms beforehand. After still not being thrilled I just accepted this was the best it would get and at least there was no mold. After getting the new keys and going back outside to get my family it was then that I saw the balcony was separating from the building that we were expected to stand on and I found a bed bug on them from where they had sat on the bed while we were looking at the room. I went and reported this to the front desk clerk and told her I needed a manager on the phone as well as a refund because we weren’t staying there. The manager, Darshuan, initially didn’t want to talk to me and after pushing the issue he finally spoke to me and gave excuse after excuse on why it was like that. First I was told they were renovating, then I was told this was a 50 year hotel and that was to be expected, then I was told they’ve only had it for a few months and that couldn’t change everything at once. I then asked why the pictures weren’t updated because I would’ve never booked it and he stated there was but so much they could do every month. Upon getting off the phone I had to wait another hour for the front desk clerk to complete an incident report while she serviced other customers in between. This could’ve absolutely been done after the fact was an even bigger convenience than I had already received. Between a family member having breathing problems and having to breathe in moldy spores, a child having a bedbug crawl on her, and an unmoved management team I don’t know quite where to start with this “hotel”. Renovations or not this building was a code/health violation from top to bottom. A PVC pipe with a pair of ripped jeans over the top would’ve been better shelter than that hotel. The only solace taken in that experience was that I was able to warn 3 customers of what their stay would look like prompting them to change their mind. Count your days clarion hotel your days of operation are numbered

"HORRIBLE ROOM NASTY, no water either"

There was no water in the bathroom? We went downstairs, they asked if we were “sure there wasn’t water” ummmm yes we are sure. Then she gave us another key and said she wanted our room key back in 15 minutes. Sure we will re pack the kids and be out of here in 15 minutes without your cart you made me bring ALL THE WAY BACK downstairs because you were hiding it so you could continue to be not working while working
