La Mère Poulard

The location is great and convenient. The room is quite spacious. It is an okay hotel with our expectation.

I’ve been to the Mont since I was a child, but never stayed over. We arrived on a very hot day to be told our room wouldn’t be ready to 5. To be fair, the guy on reception was very helpful and apologised. The hotel is split into different buildings, our room being above the restaurant. It’s an old building, but the rooms could do with a bit of an update, particularly the bathroom. That said, the room was comfortable and everything worked fine. Thankfully a fan was also provided in the room. Breakfast was decent and included in the price. For a one night stay, it’s not a bad place.

Absolutely gorgeous location! We could walk around Mont Saint Michel at night and it was so incredible to view the island this way. The only qualm was that the room was very hot with a fan, and our room was on the ground floor so we couldn’t really open the windows. This was a small inconvenience though for being able to stay in such a gorgeous location. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

Minimal accommodations for price. Had to collect and return key on an additional blocks and flights of stairs.... which offset the desirability of the location. Very small room on the 4th floor with dust on the upper shelves of closet....location is ok but all of the nearby locations would be just as good given the inconvenient reception/key pick-up

This was a special stay, not for the quality of the accommodation but because of it's location and history. Room was fairly basic but a view to die for, just spectacular. Mt St Michel is magnificent, at night it becomes magical. The abbey lit up at night was amazing. La mere Poulard was ok, friendly reception and good sized, old fashioned room with important fridge, bottled water and fan (essential for the summer). Breakfast was good, eggs, bacon, charcuterie, fresh pastries and breads and freshly made gluten free bread. The rooms are dripping in history. Worth it just to experience the Mt and Abbey at night and early morning before it is swamped with visitors. Parking is off site c£35

No much help at check in, I have to go to the counter 3 times to be able to fiend the room, From the entrance there are 160 steps! Horrible

Good position on the island. Very poor check in service. You need a code to access the car park and are told to call the hotel on arrival. No one answered the phone. Luckily the security guard was happy to let us through. Despite being told to return at 4 to get our room key, no one turned up until 4.10. Security for left luggage extremely poor. There was a short power cut in the evening. No one provided any information. My husband went to Reception, but there was no one available at all. Luckily the power returned fairly quickly. Breakfast was nice enough. Poor decor ... in need of an update.

Excellent location

I was hesitant about staying on the island due to the reviews however, I pulled the plug and WOW what an amazing experience in so many ways! I fell in love with the hotel, the island, its people, the staff. Truly beautiful and lively experience. Particularly at night when all the tourists were mostly gone it felt like just for a moment I was at home. This experienced truly ignited a spark in me to take a leap and finally transition back to where my ancestors were born in France and Spain. Thank you to the staff that make this place so special and magical!
