Pousada Convento de Evora - Historic Hotel

This was a magical place. To stay inside this beautiful and historic convent, in a walled city, next to a Roman Temple was something we will not forget. The pool was refreshing after a day of touring and the breakfast was a wonderful way to start a day of touring the megaliths on bike. Will remember this trip for a long time.

Great location although difficult to find if driving. Once there it’s very convenient to all the attractions. Roman temple is right next to the hotel. Unique experience to stay in an old monastery. The restaurant is very good. They only complaint I have is that they didn’t come to clean the room until after 4 pm. We were out all day and by 4 we just wanted to crash. For a hotel in this class I would expect better.

What a unique property! Large spacious room with a separate sitting area. The breakfast offers fresh fruit, pastries and meats It is located in walking distance to everything in Evora. We enjoyed an afternoon at the pool after visiting g the many cathedrals and Roman ruins of This quaint and beautiful city

The hotel is a bit Spartan as you would expect from a former Convent. The rooms are very small as is the bathroom. The breakfast was good and also the restaurant was very nice for dinner. It is very conveniently located And the staff was excellent.

We are touring Spain and Portugal by car and Evora is one of the many stops. The hotel, converted from a centuries old convent, has lots of character. It is a few steps away from the cathedral and the Roman temple. A short stroll will take you to the city square. We enjoyed our stay. The only shortcoming is that our dinner at the restaurant left much to be desired.

Clean, quiet, staff is helpful. Perfect location. They assist with parking.

Such a beautiful place to stay - full of history and character. Rooms are small (they were monastic cells after all) but very comfortable and had extra blankets for warmth in the winter. The restaurant was excellent - expensive but lovely. The service from all the staff was exemplary.

The hotel and common areas are beautiful. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was like a rock and we both slept badly, or not at all for both our nights there. Dinner at the hotel was very much overpriced and very disappointing in terms of quality. The staff were pleasant, but quite reserved and seemed disinterested, both in the dining room and especially the bar. We did not expect this after all the great reviews about customer service. The location is great for walking all over Évora. The breakfast buffet is also very good. Overall, I would not return to this Pousada.
