Situation was perfect for amenities

The hotel was ok apart from the beds being very uncomfortable to sleep in. The mattress was very hard and very uncomfortable.

Good breakfast but no proper shower and could not open youtube on tv. window would not shut,

Really close to the beach and it's amenities, clean and quite room.

Location great, Bar/Restaurant OK, family room was very small and cramped - and very jaded - rooms need some TLC.

This must be one of the worst,most dirtiest, depressing hotels I've ever stayed in! The staff were unhelpful, the rooms were dirty,walls were stained with god knows what.... The smell of body odour,and urine was unbearable, the beds were like sleeping on concrete,so much so,I didn't sleep! My shoes stuck to the carpets,the curtains were hanging off the rail.,the bedding was stained!The kettle didn't work, the tea and coffee were the foulest tasting I'd ever had,the food was inedible! We checked out ASAP THE next morning, and found another hotel, as I couldn't stay another minute, if I could of found another hotel that night,i would of! Please don't stay,it will ruin your holiday and mood!!

Great location

The Grand Hotel Llandudno is another example of wringing as much profit out of a hotel as possible, while putting as little back in as can be gotten away with. This place is great value for money, as long as you set your sights low in terms of cosmetic appearances and keep your expectations on food provision just as low, if not a bit lower. The hotel is well over 120 years old, and from a distance appears an imposing sight, harking back to glorious days of early 20th century of statement architecture. It is located right on the water's edge, overlooking the bay, promenade and pier. But look a bit closer and you will start to see that the exterior of the building is looking very tired, and crumbling in places. That's assuming you have finally parked up (good luck here) and realised you need to renew your parking charges every day before 10am. At around £7.50 a day. Ouch. Go inside and it's just as tired, tatty in places with rain-damaged plaster here and there. Rooms are very basic but clean (from my experience), and decor very old. The food is not great. Breakfast is OK but the evening meals are not good. If you stay here, budget a bit more to eat out if you can. If you have to eat here, you won't starve - but you will be bored to tears with the limited options available. Staff are hit and miss. Some very charming, some downright obnoxious and some everything in-between. No housekeeping during our stay, which I find very odd. After 4 days, bins need emptying, tea and coffee topped up etc. Nothing... So this can be a great option for somewhere to explore Llandudno on a budget, buy don't expect any refinement or 5 star service. You just won't get it. The Grand days of this once opulent location have long since checked out.

Very basic, tired and run down hotel. It’s not even the unloved appearance that’s the worst, it’s how generally filthy it is. The mattress in my room was old, knackered and lumpy. Not to mention the sheets being grey and dingy. Filthy hand prints and mouldy marks on the inside of the window. Grubby bathroom with a shower that barely trickled lukewarm water. Can’t comment on the food, after hearing other guests describe how bad it was, I went to Tesco for a sandwich.

What’s grand about it? Check in was straight forward. Had to queue to use the elevators. The whole third floor smelled like urine. Damp room, with paint coming away on walls and celling. A kettle which couldn’t be plugged in on a surface as the plug sockets were too far away. No extractor fan in the bathroom, and no window to open. (A legal requirement). No house keeping for a week long stay, and balconies which are ready to fall off the building. The food was worse than a retirement homes and the restaurant felt like that too. An all you can eat buffet of unlabelled foods (beware if you have allergies), mainly consisting of mouldy salad, boiled cauliflower, boiled potatoes with were black in the middle and unidentifiable battered fish/chicken. All topped off with a drinks dispenser which despite labelled “water”, “orange juice” and “apple juice” only dispensed water. To summarise if you enjoy unlabelled mush and water for dinner, you’re in for a treat! To top it all off the staff are far from welcoming and a smile would go a long way! If the hotel wasn’t in such a great location I’m sure it would have closed down in the 1980s.
