Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay Resort

Me & my husband have just returned from our week holiday at the Hyatt Regency in Kotor Bay. The hotel is modern, clean with plenty of sun beds to choose from. Its an idyllic location and we often couldn’t believe where we were. Staff were always welcoming, friendly and helpful. We used concierge to arrange a boat trip and we can’t fault the service. The only let down perhaps is the food. Although there are plenty of restaurants at the hotel, for evening options there is only really 3 - the buffet, lighthouse & ole beach bar, which then became repetitive as ole and lighthouse are your lunch time options also with the option of the pool bar. We had food at the Lighthouse twice, and neither time did it waw us to think this was the hotels finer option. Just want to point this out for future travelers as we don’t feel other reviews reflect this but the only thing that let this hotel down was transport links. The Hyatt is about 10/15 minute drive from Kotor Old Town. Whilst there is a public bus every hour for €1.50, this is often late or doesn’t show up at all. We had asked reception to arrange a taxi for us, but were told there was a 1.5 hour wait and therefore suggested we try the bus. Other evenings we had asked reception during the day to arrange the taxi for a specific time in the evening to avoid a long waiting time. We were given a QR code by the hotel to WhattsApp when we were ready to return and to tell them where we were and they would arrange the taxi back. However, there was a delay with reception getting back and arranging the taxi and then sent us to a complete different location to meet the taxi - which was a but of a nuisance! Taxi is €15/20 each way. Based on the location and the hotel being 5*, its a shame the hotel doesn’t have a shuttle system or a water taxi service that could take guests back and forth. Even if there was a cost to the service, but something more frequent and accessible.

The hotels position is fantastic - mountain views, a small private beach and calm, warm waters. The hotel is relatively new with well equipped, stylish rooms. I particularly enjoyed the heated bathroom mirror, the double sinks, large shower and king sized beds which had high quality linen and a very comfortable mattress. Most of the staff were very welcoming and helpful, especially the concierges who arranged some really good trips for us and helped when I thought I had lost my phone. The staff on the beach and by the pool were very helpful, bringing drinks and putting up umbrellas. However, because its such a big hotel there are lots of staff so I missed the personal service and welcome you get in a smaller hotel. As expected, the hotel was expensive for food and drink. The setting of the beach bar and Lighthouse restaurant was lovely. The beach bar and pool bar didn't cater well for gluten free. There were lots of local restaurants within walking distance or a short taxi ride - well worth trying for the food and lovely views. Our issues: Our 2 rooms were cancelled 2 weeks before we were due to go - we had paid in full. This was very stressful. When we rang the hotel (we had booked through Jet2 who initially weren't very helpful) the staff dealt with it well and we moved the dates by few days so we could still go. We also got a room upgrade which was appreciated. There was a large wedding reception at the hotel during our stay. Whilst the music was enjoyable it would have been nice to have been informed earlier that 4pm so we could have made alternative evening arrangements. The Lighthouse restaurants food was really good but we had issues over the service. On our first visit some starters were cancelled because they didn't have gluten free bread - we were not told, they just didn't turn up with the rest if the food. When we queried this they said they would have to walk for 10 minutes to go to the other restaurant to collect gf bread! On our second visit we asked for some butter to go with the bread and was told we would have to pay for it - I've never been charged for butter before! We were disappointed that there wasn't a rooftop bar - there were signs to it but apparently it was never built. The "Piano" bar didn't have a piano and was soulless - situated in a corridor. The outside area there was always used by smokers so not for us. We tried the evening buffet restaurant one night was very disappointing and we didn't enjoy the food. The atmosphere was soulless - don't go! We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel.

We had a truly fantastic stay and the level of service exceeded all our expectations. A big thank you to the amazing team, clearly guided by an outstanding General Manager. I can’t thank you enough for crafting such a memorable experience for us. As a fellow hotelier with a background in food and beverage, I say this with full professional appreciation: your operation is run like clockwork. The attention to detail, especially in the restaurants and bars, is remarkable, and the service is consistently flawless. A special shoutout to Bar Manager Mladen for his attentiveness and genuine care throughout our stay, as well as to Vuk and another kind colleague whose name I regret I didn’t catch. The housekeeping was immaculate and our room was always spotless thanks to the lovely lady who looked after it. Our check-in was smooth and welcoming, thanks to the gracious lady at reception, along with Haitham (Assistant Manager) and Milo. This was hospitality at its finest. Thank you again for such a memorable stay!

There are good and bad points to this hotel. Positives Great pools Room was great, we had a hot tub and a large balcony Breakfast was brilliant , nice staff and very wide and tasty selection Lovely beach bar and places to soak up the sun Ole Bar and restaurants very good for good and drinks. Nice staff Negatives No central bar area We had a few issues with our room which we reported and these were not dealt with very well. Very slow. This meant our room was missed for cleaning Lack of communication when we returned to our room and the hot tub was being emptied and serviced. No warning of this Lighthouse Restaurant - went on my birthday. Did not make it special. Waitress was abrupt. Wrong bill at the end. Food average and overpriced. Check your bill at the end. Charged twice for a meal so had this removed Overall, we loved Montenegro. Think the hotel take their customers for granted a bit. Needed better service.

We visited the Hyatt on the 10th July for 1 week and had the most wonderful stay. The hotel was clean and modern, we had a room with a swim up pool with the most amazing views. The food was great in all the restaurants and the staff could not do enough for the guests. However, a special mention needs to go to Jose Ibarra the supervisor in the restaurant, nothing was too much trouble, and he made every customer feel like a VIP, his customer service was excellent he was attentive and friendly. . Also, Blazo the waiter in the beach restaurant another employee who worked hard but always made time for his guests . All in all, the Hyatt is the perfect hotel for a stay in Kotor, and we could not fault it, we are already looking at re booking for a return visit.

This Hyatt property is perfect for a Montenegro get away vacation. Resort property that gives luxurious experience. Nice location away from busy old town. They have their own beachfront where you can order drinks and have towel service.

We’ve just returned from the Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay hotel and would definitely recommend staying here. It’s super clean, friendly staff and has amazing views of Kotor Bay from the pools. We ate in all 3 restaurants (Blue buffet restaurant, Ole beach bar and the Lighthouse restaurant). Our favourite was definitely the Lighthouse - food was delicious and staff really attentive with beautiful views. The prices of drinks at the hotel around the pool are a bit more expensive than outside the hotel but not too bad for the convenience (€11 for 2 bottles of local beer and €33 euros for 2 cocktails). We tended to eat lunch outside the hotel at one of the little eateries on the main road only a couple of minutes walk and much cheaper. It’s easy to get taxis from reception although you usually have to wait about 20 minutes so factor that in! Taxi to Kotor old town was €15 and taxi to Porto Montenegro (Tivat) was €19. It takes around 20-30 minutes to get to those places. Tends to be a bit more expensive coming back but try not to use taxi ranks and just flag a taxi down on the main road. The roads around the hotel are very narrow and it amazed us how 2 cars could fit side by side to pass each other but the taxi drivers are all used to it and everyone seems really relaxed on the roads. We did a private boat trip from the hotel and would definitely recommend - we went to Perast, lady of the rocks, blue caves and submarine tunnels - a really lovely 4 hours. We also did a trip with Jet 2 to Lake Skadar - lovely when you get there but takes a while due to traffic (over 2 hours). Would recommend the Kotor cable car for amazing views over the bay. Overall we had a great holiday - couldn’t really fault the hotel and although you had to get taxis to get out and about I wouldn’t swap that for the views from the hotel.

The grounds are beautiful the food was good. For a five star hotel this was probably among the worst we've stayed at. No waiters walked around the beach or pool offering drinks or food. When we went to order food by the pool restaurant, it took over 30 minutes to receive it. We made reservations for dinner in one of the restaurants on site. Though the hostess remembered taking the reservation, she forgot to write it down, so we had to wait forty minutes to be seated. Two of the three days that we were there, there wasn't any hot water in the shower. Nothing in the hotel was terribly wrong, just nothing was wonderful or worth the price.
