Whately Hall

Two parts to this hotel, olde worlde rooms in the original building and modern rooms in the extended portion to the rear. All spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable. Rooms in rear extension all recently been refurbished with new carpets, bathrooms and fixtures.

Quite a lot of stairs and only one lift right at the back of hotel. Something to be aware of if have mobility issues. Staff genuinely accommodating, rooms closer together, assist with bags etc.

Room - Although newly decorated the room was a lot smaller than it looked in images online, Awkward positioning of desk and chair making it hard to navigate around the bed. Pillows and mattress overly firm which wasn’t ideal for us but I appreciate this will always come down to personal preference. TV had apps (Netflix etc) which was a good perk and a fan was available which helped with the current heatwave and the hotel not having AC. The bathroom had shampoo, conditioner and body lotion but it didn’t have any shower gel/body wash nor any hand-wash which isn’t great. Very noisy even though we were situated at the back of hotel, ongoing maintenance works which halts any attempt of a lay in. Room was in daylight from around 5:30am so curtains could be better. Lots of noise when other residents come and go from their rooms, doors slam etc. Location - Can’t fault the location, just a short walk to Castle Quay/Town Centre. Lots of pubs and restaurants nearby. Hotel - Nice bar and foyer area. Hotel very dated but you can see they are trying to make changes throughout. Would we stay here again? Probably not, no. Not awful just not to our taste/expectations.

Great location

The property could do with a good deep clean not just a builders clean, the main house staircase was very dirty and dusty and in need of a lick of fresh stain, it’s the main focus of the house and looks awful, I nearly asked for a hoover and duster to do it myself. It’s a great hotel but the attention seems to be in other areas.

Room was very clean bed was very comfortable. Has everything you could want.

Breakfast was very average.

Beds were very comfy! Breakfast was good. Close to alot of pubs. Pool room around the corner and a weatherspoons! Great area!

Tight entrance to Carmarthen but not much can be done about that!

Shower tray VERY slippery (like walking on ice). Bath mat could have been bigger
