"Not what you think it is"

Please think twice before booking if you think this is a luxury resort. Staff is rude, grounds are not clean, and dining is just so so

"Nope, don't do it"

4.0

We stayed four nights at the Coral Atlantis with a water view. It was spring break so naturally everything from service to availability would be stretched to the max, but that said, I cannot justify the price for being at this resort for the value received. The room wasn't ready when it was promised. There was not hot water the first two days, we spent more time on hold with people supposedly trying to get maintenance than we did exploring the property the first 6 hours we were there. The resort is more interested in making money over customer experience, allowing way too many day pass entries that caused ridiculous lines for those that paid the premium to be on resort every day. Generally, all staff were more interested in angling for a tip or grumbling about the lack of pay they received than in serving customers. For all that, I can't say that the view, as good as it was, or the room, as old but clean as it was (with no hot water for two days) warranted $750 plus VAT and the nice daily service fee they tack onto the room rate. I pay LESS at an all inclusive resort in Mexico for a modern swim up deluxe suite. There is no real wow factor that you couldn't find by staying in the U.S. and visiting a hotel on the beach that had a nice pool for the kids to play and a waterpark nearby if you wanted to go crazy for a day. And you could eat your meals for about 1/3 of the cost. The experiences you pay $300-$400 for per person generally last 30 minutes and have the same lackadaisical staff. There is a difference between Bahamian relaxed and disinterest, with the staff almost all on the latter except when a tip might be involved. Sorry, just didn't see the value, at all.

"Dissappointing, re-investment is needed, re-energize the service culture of the staff and remember ALL your guests."

6.0

This is the second time my wife and I have stayed here. Last year at this time (which was a four or five star experience) and again this year. Normally it’s a great place and would be particularly great to take the kids and support all that Atlantis does for conservation and wildlife preservations and education. However, I have to say that this time we came a little earlier, during what turns out to be Shabbat and Passover, just before Easter. Big mistake on our part as we found that the hotel made some generous accommodations for what I presume are orthodox Jewish folks visiting to the point where it significantly negatively impacted on our stay. Examples included turning one of the two functioning elevators into an every stop down and every stop up, and staying on the 12th floor this got incredibly frustrating. They also shut Cocodrilo down, a favourite restaurant, for these folks for their exclusive use for two weeks! This overlapped the week we stayed which sucked but what really frustrated us was and every time we walked past it during the early afternoon, it was nearly empty which added to our frustrations, so a partial shut down or something could maybe have been done to accommodate other guests? I think it’s great that they made accommodations for their religious beliefs but this was going too far as it significantly, negatively affected all their other guests. We heard lots of quiet grumbling but you can’t say anything without being called racist. Accommodation goes both ways right? In any case, other issues of note was no listing or menu for what was available for bar drinks at the poolside bars except for an out-of-date and badly beat up version from last year and the prices had gone up by roughly 15% from last year. Only about half of the food menu items were even available, so it was a guessing game to order food to find out what they actually had available. Then they started running out of basic mix items like pina colada mix. The towel and wrist band counters couldn’t help us as their “system was down” so we had to wander the site to three different locations before we were able to get our wristbands. Then theee weren’t enough inner tubes for the lazy river. Staff appeared largely disinterested, passively unhelpful, some were very stressed and paralyzed to make decisions outside what they had been programmed to do, and on rare occasions just rude in some cases. There were a few very notable exceptions that were downright pleasant-which was more aligned with what we experienced last year. I’m speculating that maybe the penny pinching type are running the place now vs. market/service oriented management. The place is appears to be getting run down and while there was evidence that some limited re-investment is being made, it frankly needs some work (significant corrosion repairs and sliding doors that are sizing in the rails in the suites come to mind). I think this business may be in “harvesting mode”. We won’t go back next year, maybe if they make some re-investment we will reconsider down the road, especially due to their eco-support initiatives. Have always enjoyed our time here, so really hate to post this, I hope someone reads this from the resort.

Beautiful Resort. Clean amenities and friendly staff. Aside from being followed to the bathroom and harassed by one of the lifeguards, I had a wonderful time.

"Not worth it"

4.0

Room was not what I would have expected. There was mold in our shower. Also the service left a lot to be desired. Hotel staff acted inconvenienced anytime we needed something small or basic that I would consider routine in hospitality.
