Absolutely disgraceful, arrived at 2pm and told check in was at 3 o’clock and received key card. Went to room at 3.30, beer bottles on widow sill towel on floor and dirty tea cups on table. Obviously nobody had cleaned the room. Went to reception, spoke to very rude manager to be told that it’s not their fault they are short staffed like it was my fault. Asked for a refund to be told to contact booking. com, we had booked a double room and was told that a twin room was available and to push beds together. Absolute joke. Took the room because my partner was exhausted as she has stage 4 cancer, the room was right above air conditioning unit or extractor unit so was very noisy, several lifts were out of order so we had to use stairs, only stayed one night as my partner was heart broken, we stayed the one night instead of the 3 nights as my partner couldn’t sleep because of the noisy extractor fans. we have stayed in this hotel many times over the years and never really had a problem. Tried to do online check in and add £20 prosecco to room to be told it hadn’t gone through and to buy a bottle at the bar. I can’t believe your company booking.com have this hotel on your website. Any sort of refund or compensation would be appreciated but I know Britannia Hotel chain won’t be bothered us.

Friendly homely environment perfect for business or pleasure. Always staff on hand and they will help with anything
