Sandcastle Oceanfront Resort South Beach

It took 45 mins to check in due to no staff. There was nobody in the so called lobby to help. She states the system they have couldn’t tell her if room was clean so she had to call security to check room. After trying to call security for 45mins she then decided to put us in another room she knew was clean. Room was nothing like pictured. Carpet was old and smelled like a wet dog inside room. Very old and ran down. Some lights didn’t work and the balcony had mold with standing water from air unit on it. Bed was so uncomfortable and all it had was a sheet and wool blanket on top for bedding. We requested to be moved but they said they could accommodate us due to no vacancy. There was no restaurant or tiki bar like the website said. Ice machines broken no vending machines. Phones in room do not work. Tries to call front lobby more than 10 mins with no response. Ask housekeeper in hallway for a towel and she said we had to go thru front lobby. We went to lobby and they said sorry we are waiting on laundry so no towels available. After a long day at the beach we just wanted a shower and to use a clean towel but instead used our beach towels to dry off with. Would not recommend or stay again period. Expedia was amazing and tried to make things right for us they even called to hotel and spoke to manger but got same results. We did get a $25 resort fee credited back to our account.

They will tell you they’re not equipped for plunging a toilet. Closes the pool on the hottest Day of the week. Laughs in your face when ask for refund

I didn’t like the property . Some of the staff members were very rude. When I checked in my room wasn’t ready and they also switched my room without acknowledging me. They wanted me to pay resort fees when I already paid and they tell me that’s not for them.

What I like was the convenience to the beach. The hotel had no entertainment or restaurants or bars and I booked for that reason it was closed down. The property is old not very sanitary it was a old relic there was trash and waste on the property and in the garage and just not appealing to the eye. I hated being on the elevator that was nasty and hot don't leave any food because critters will become a guest when I return to Myrtle Beach I have to stay at a 4 star or higher I felt creeped out here just wasn't up to par far as the cleanist I desire.

This hotel is for sale and we were not aware of that upon booking! We got the double queen kitchenette ocean size room. The microwave did not work. We asked the front desk for utensils for our kitchenette, there were none. The toilet in the bathroom rocked when you sat down. 60% of the lights worked in the room. Bugs stuck to the ceiling of the room. The hotel boasted of room service and an on site restaurant/cafe. Well forget that! We found out thw 2nd day from a VERY RUDE front desk person that it was closed after I dumbly asked for pancake syrup thinking they would direct me to the restaurant! WRONG! The front desk lady rolled her eyes told me no to the syrup and i asked what about the restaurant, shes like its closed permanently, and laughed at me like it was my fault for not knowing the restaurant wasnt open anymore. And the biggest reason we got this hotel was for its pool! This pool was disgusting! In the course of 4 days it was cleaned maybe once! The last day we were there a tampon floated unchecked in the pool! NO WIFI! tiny TV. the amenities I booked this place for were severely lacking, non existent or didnt exist at all!This was a disgusting and deceptive hotel with very rude staff! We would have left but we didnt want to ruin our vacation but honestly with such a poor room and with the high expectations that we haf it was ruined anyways!

Checking in line was long. Waited about an hour and room was not ready. So we came back later in the night. The morning sunset kind of made up for it. Booked for 2 nights only ended up staying for 1. Missed the threshold of refund for canceling our 2nd night but it was all good. Overall 3 out of 5. I would stay there again.

Extremely Disappointing Stay – Would Not Recommend Our experience was very disappointing from start to finish. The customer service was rude and unhelpful. Check-in was supposed to be at 4 PM, but our room wasn’t ready, and we ended up waiting nearly an hour past that time. Once we finally got into our room, it was in terrible condition. The entire room had a foul odor, the chairs were rusted and torn, and the wall bed was also rusted, in poor condition, and not even set up for use. We had to go back to the front desk just to ask for extra sheets and pillows. The outdoor pool was unusable during our stay. Someone had vomited in it early on, and it was never cleaned or treated properly. As a result, we didn’t feel comfortable going in the pool at all. Between the unsanitary conditions and poor customer service, I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I checked the room as soon as we got there for bugs and etc. No bugs but room was very dirty. Sheets were dirty. Hadn't been swept. Stove wasnt even usable. Wrong outlet. No hairdryer. We stayed 4 days 3 nights. Not ONE time was we brought any towels after we went down and asked for them 8 times! So we ended up going and buying some! Ridiculous. They advertise a poolside bar, its closed. They advertise a restaurant on site, its closed. Ice cream bar, also closed. But the pizza place delivers advertisement papers every single day. There's stray cats that live there that poo all over the lawn so by the pool stinks like feces. The outdoor areas are also closed. Fire pits, closed. And pool towels, yeah forget that too... Pros: location is nice. Parking deck is attached to building.

Lovely Hotel

Our room was nasty when we first entered had to sweep the floors from trash and sand everywhere. mattresses and sheets had mold on them,the curtains the covered the windows at the balcony had mold all over them, shower head was broke and sprayed out over the curtain called front desk and all they did was bring extra sheets to the door and did nothing else about the moldy curtain to the balcony
