Basin Harbor

This lovely resort is a national treasure. A trip to the past but with modern updates. We were lucky to stay in the Woodland Cottage directly on the lake. Mini kitchen, a bedroom with a king bed and the sleeper sofa in the separate living room had plenty of room for the 4 of us. Small balcony w/2 chairs made for great lake viewing with the Adirondak mtns backdrop. There's lots to do for the kids. They loved the "iceberg" in the swinnimng area with its waterslides and high jumps as well as the trampoline. Scenic swimming bay with its many lounge chairs, bar and food truck/tables overlooking the boat harbor was lovely for us non active types. Our dinner at the casual Red Mill was great. Lovely antique boathouse decor plus the kids could play on the playground until the food was ready. Someday I'll have to return to try out the fancier restaurant in the main lodge or the once a week dinner on the pier. If you're there on July 3rd they put on a great fireworks show. Very friendly, helpful staff.

Basin Harbor always is wonderful - from the delicious breakfasts to tennis, golf, swimming, boat trips, sailfish and kayaks, their excellent Maritime Museum, and three dinner locations. And the Beach family owners are always there. Plus nearby the unique Shelburne Museum and Farm property. We come back every year.

Quiet, private, great location nestled in a protected harbor and Lake Champlain; nice swimming area in the Lake as well as a beautiful outdoor pool. Well-maintained golf course, dining options, even a "snack shack." 90 minute "shipwreck" cruise on the Lake was fun (underwater drone utilized to actually show us some of the 200 wrecks that litter the bottom of Lake Champlain). Our stay was made most wonderful by the awesome staff, most especially the front desk people who have great attitudes and a willingness to go out of their way to be helpful; all were amazing but especially Tanner and Zee! Thank you for making a first time visitor feel right at home!

Basin Harbor never fails to exceed our expectations! We always have a magical time enjoying this secluded slice of paradise. We can’t wait to come back!

Perfect family spot. Tons for kids to do. Classic New England lake setting. Great staff. Nice accommodations (not sure if all are renovated so be sure to ask). There are good but somewhat limited food options but there is enough to stay on property for 3-4 days.

Basin Harbor is our happy place. I stumbled across it last year, returned this past summer, and hope to make it an annual destination. I have four kiddos (aged 9-15), and there is more than enough for all of us to do -- and provides ample opportunities to great memories. The whole place is beautiful, everyone who works there is so friendly and helpful, and we truly enjoy every moment.

Lovely old New England resort with plenty of options - every member of the family can find something to do. There is sailing, power boating, kayaking, sandy beach, tennis, pool, etc. Dining options range from beachside snack bar to fine dining. Staff is energetic and friendly.

The staff here is outstanding, they went out of their way to help us. Looking forward to going back.

Over the years, Basin Harbor has been a wonderful getaway. This year, on the plus side, a resort fee now includes use of canoes and kayaks, one of our regular activities. Other changes are not well handled. We took a daily resort credit in lieu of a bed-and-breakfast rate, but staff didn't know how to apply it. We went through multiple printouts of our bill in order to use the credit and correct a huge "self-tip" by our server at breakfast, . We'll be back to Basin Harbor, but we'll review every item on our bill.
