Super 8 by Wyndham Houghton Lake

Needs updating, even the rooms. Has a musty smell upon entering the building. My room also smelled musty and from past smoking in there.

This was an easily accessible motel right at the highway exit. Dog friendly, indoor pool, complimentary breakfast, clean comfortable rooms. Would stay again.

Very nice interior. The exterior could use an upgrade. Nice pool.

NOTHING!! Room NOT CLEANED from previous occupancy. Staff seemed unwilling to correct the situation, but he'd try to see what he could do. Then we had a complete Miss-communication. I said I would come back, giving him time get the room cleaned, and fresh linens. I called a few hours later. He said " I thought you were NOT coming back. I'm very upset at this point. I told him I wanted a refund. He replied " I already did. I'm NOT happy. Sincere regrets Kay Green

The room was nice. The bed was comfortable

The breakfast wasn't nothing to right home about

The front desk representative came across abrasive (not welcoming). Very noisy, like doors slamming until 1:30 am. The dresser drawer was broken, a repair was done to it with scotch tape, LoL. Broken tile laying on the bathroom floor. Many things in the hotel needs repair or replaced. We paid for 2 nights and we left after the first night, we knew we couldn’t get a refund but we wanted out of there and paid to stay at another hotel nearby.

I’ve stayed at so many Super 8’s over the years. This one stands out because it’s just very well kept up, clean and in a nice quiet area. Kudos to management for making that effort. Though literally right off the highway it’s set back enough that you don’t see all the businesses near by when you are in the parking lot or hear cars and trucks roaring by from your room. Though everything you need is minutes away. One of my favorites in Michigan.

Wonderful swimming pool. We appreciated the complimentary breakfast.

The man at the front desk and his sensitivity to our situation of needing handicap room and any other needs related to spouse difficulty with walking, balance and coordination. He was very friendly and helpful on our first time there.

This Super 8 has greatly improved over the past years. Clean, neat. The breakfast was much better than expected. Concrete leading to main entry in poor condition. Would make repair a high priority due to potential lawsuits. Overall, great job!
