Melbourne Kew Central Apartment Hotel

The location was convenient

No toiletpaper in the room when I arrived late at night and no open shops. The TV remote didn't work and the TV did not get much reception. The bar fridge freezer needed defrosting. The bath and shower were not very clean. The toilet didn't flush properly.

The property looked lovely in the online photos. The bed was comfy.

Signage was confusing making the property hard to find. The property was predominantly labeled Beaumont Kew, with much smaller signage indicating Melbourne Kew Central Appartments was also located on the property. Signage for Reception was almost nonexistent and it was only by chance that we were able to check in when a cleaner came to the door. The room was in poor / unsafe condition. One of the bathroom mirror lights was stuffed with paper, definitely a fire hazard. The bath was a very old spa with badly damaged and dirty / rusty jets. There was also substantial mould in a corner of the bath. The doona on the bed was not fully enclosed by sheets. Ordinarily, there is bottom sheet, with top sheet and covering sheet encasing the doona. In this case, the inside top sheet was missing so the scratchy doona was against our skin in the bed. Also, the was a distasteful odour from the air conditioning unit.

Close to everything that you would need

No internet that’s something you take for granted these days but no. Room needs a upgrade but in good condition

Felt old and run down and seemed to have been a blockage in the plumbing to toilet

Price and location

The absence of any staff at reception apart from the "manager", who I accidentally bumped into when attempting to check in within the allocated time. The dirty state of the place. The yellow, blood and lipstick stained doona without a cover. The mould on the shower wall. The cracked sink. The stained carpet. The faulty curtain railing. The paint stains on the bathroom bench. The dirty hot plate (even though I had no intention to cook). The front door, which looked like it had been kicked in and fixed but no-one bothered to paint. No wifi.

Cob webs in the room mould build up around shower wanted to open window for fresh air but no fly screens.

Cleanness of the room

Proximity to public transport. Within five minute walk to both tram and bus. Cheap price during a busy time in Melbourne.

No signage out the front of the property, so it took some time to find it. Despite emails saying reception was open all day I had to ring to get someone. When I mentioned that it was difficult to find, I was told not my responsibility. I had advised prior to my stay that I needed a walk in shower due to mobility issues - I got a room with a shower over the bath which was not appropriate. I am always amazed how when you advise you have mobility issues, you can be allocated a room as far away from reception as is possible. Good thing I was only there to sleep and only for one night.
