Doulos Phos The Ship Hotel

Thanks to the owner of Eric Saw, who spent tremendous effort, conquered all obstacles and finally turned this 111 years old ship into a very unique ship hotel, all the income goes to charity. It’s just a few minutes walk from Bintan ferry terminal.

Hope can develop more activities so we don’t need travel far to other places. Food can add more varieties. In the morning there’s lots flies in the canteen.

The heritage and history. The views

It was such a fitting tribute to the ship’s rich history to see her restored to a newfound glory. The restoration is masterfully done, beautifully complemented by the reclaimed land she now rests on. It was truly an honour to stay aboard this unique and enchanting piece of history, now transformed into a marvellous feat of architectural design. Our room was delightful — it perfectly balanced the charm of an old-time cruise liner with modern comforts, all while maintaining an authentic nautical vibe. Stepping out onto the balcony to relax and take in the surrounding waters and sweeping views of the Indonesian landscape was an absolute highlight. I can’t recommend this experience enough to anyone who appreciates history, architecture, and a touch of maritime magic.

Would be great to see some more activities and investments into the local area enriching what Bintan has to offer whilst protecting and celebrating the local traditions and wildlife.

I liked that we stayed in such a vintage Ship and it was our first stay in a Ship Hotel, literally inside a ship, that is almost 111yo.

There should be a separate USB fan or something to ventilate immediately after coming from outside, as it takes a while for the central AC to cool down the room.

Unique and not crowded so it's very peaceful. For those who want a leisurely stay, this hotel is good.

Owner is very friendly and attentive. Gave me a surprise birthday cake 😄 Staff are nice & friendly. Willing to do extra to make our stay memorable. Very interesting & impressive Indo-Dutch dinner.

I celebrated my 63rd birthday here and had a truly wonderful time. Having stayed at many hotels over the years, I can honestly say this was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. The atmosphere is something special—it offers a unique glimpse into life at sea, without ever having to set sail. What made it even more memorable was meeting the owner of the ship—a genuinely friendly and humble man. I was deeply blessed by our encounter. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and will definitely be coming back. I wholeheartedly recommend this amazing place to friends from all around the world. It’s a stay you won’t forget.
