Hilton Grand Vacations Club Palm Desert

We have stayed at other similar type properties in the area and Hilton was far the best

We stayed in a 2-bedroom villa. My husband's sister stayed in the 2nd bedroom with 2 twin beds. The price was nearly $800/night after fees and taxes were added. It was a splurge but we wanted to pay for my sister-in-law's stay and there weren't many other options in the area. We stayed 3 nights. For the price, we expected more. The decor is a bit dated. The linens on the bed were not especially luxurious; there wasn't a thick blanket, duvet or bedspread so the bed wasn't very cozy. The toilet paper was cheap and rough. Housekeeping was by request only. There was a packet of coffee in the room, but there wasn't any complementary bottled water. A box of date treats would have been a nice touch. There weren't any robes or slippers. All of these are minimal cost extras that would have increased the value delivered for the money. The layout of the 2nd bedroom is really weird. There is a large open shower in the same room as the beds, and a step in tub with a shower. The water in the shower was never hot enough. There is no dining on-site, but there is a grocery store and restaurants nearby. We ended up going to El Paseo for dinner every night. The location of the resort may be great for golfers, but it wasn't especially convenient for the activities we did (Aerial tramway, Joshua Tree, Indian Canyon, dining). There are several pools, including pools designated for adults only. The pool near our room was quiet at first, but then filled with screaming children. It was nice to be able to be able to go to another pool that was adults only. The fitness center is fairly small, but there is a Peloton bike, an elliptical and a treadmill along with a pull down weight machine and free weights. There is a laundry room in the building, but no laundry within the unit itself.

The resort is in excellent condition. The room was a 2nd floor, one bedroom, one bath unit. The only problem we had was a shortage of hot water, which was on-going, but only effected the shower. The manager gave us a generous discount (without being asked) because of this. The grounds are immaculately maintained, in classic desert style. The resort is surrounded by the Desert Willow Golf Course, so is very beautiful. The Terrace restaurant at the country club is nice and we got a discount when dining there. A grocery store, fully stocked, is about a mile away, easily accessed. The weather was fantastic, mid 70's every day and the location is central to almost all of the natural sites available in the area, the botanical gardens/zoo is 15 minutes away, maybe 20. Joshua Tree is fifty miles off and Indian Canyon is maybe 30 minutes away or so. We loved seeing the natural, native palms growing so huge there and the gorgeous rock formations are everywhere, all around. We were very comfortable at this resort, wonderful bedding and a nice, new TV too. DVD Movies are available for free, but we found most of them were pretty old.

Hilton Club in Palm Desert is a beautiful place to spend a month relaxing and using it for excursions into the valley or up a mountain. The grounds are beautiful and very good. The rooms all have great views of the golf course and the mountains. Staff are very responsive to any requests. The big pools are the best! best of the best!!!

This is the 6th time I have stayed here in the past 10 years... Overall conditions and cleanliness are continuously declining. From Intrawest to Diamond Resorts and now Hilton Grand Vacations - the resort keeps getting more run down.

Overpriced for quality of room and furnishings

We are members of this resort for over 20 years and stayed here many times. Club Intrawest sold to Embarc some years ago, who recently sold to Hilton. It has become harder and harder to book reservations at this resort using "points" because each subsequent sale to larger corporations brings more members, and higher demand for a limited number of rooms. Booking with points has been made EVEN MORE DIFFICULT because a significant portion of the places here are "reserved" and dedicated for use solely as hotel rooms to rent to "non-members". We pay $861 per year for "Resort Maintenance Fees". Okay, FINE. We booked under the "HOTEL" arrangement, and paid over $1000 for only 2 nights for a place that should have been available to us as members. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with a warm "Welcome Home" by the desk staff, who informed us that we would have to pay an ADDITIONAL $91.20 as a "Resort Fee" if we wanted to use the pool. "But we are members here for 20 years", we said. We've never been charged an additional fee to use the pool." "Sorry", the desk clerk replied, with cool indifference. "Can't you apply our $861 in Resort Maintenance Fees to this charge?", we asked. "Oh no sir, that is against Hilton regulations", she replied. "But here are your room keys, enjoy your vacation home!" Her false enthusiasm was insipid. This place has become poisoned by the same infection of greed and petty, made-up charges that is all too typical of soulless corporations. It may be legal, but it's certainly not right. And it leaves a bad taste in your mouth to be treated this way. BRING AN EXTRA $100 WITH YOU IF YOU WANT TO USE THE POOL WHEN YOU STAY HERE. "Welcome home! Enjoy your vacation!"
