Room very hot as it was during the heatwave and A/C not functioning properly

We went in the hottest spell of the year but the reception areas were well chilled. Taxis into the city centre were easy to book as it is quite a walk. Breakfast choices were varied.

Out of the 2 rooms we booked, the aircon didn't work in one of them so it was a very uncomfortable night's sleep. We finally found a breakfast table out of the sun but it would have been again uncomfortable to eat in full sun.

Location was okay

We were moved room 3 times due to broken air condition and downgraded rooms each time . The final room we were moved too was very dirty and the carpet was stained

Well what can I say? Terrible problems at this hotel with the air con! Advertising says air con in rooms but chatting to other guests appears only 60% of rooms have functional cooling air con. What really makes this a problem is there is no notification at check in. Staff wait for you to go to the room and then come and complain. Hoping that guests don’t complain and they ‘get away with it’ - outside temps over 30 degrees and nearly half the rooms not got air con, despite advertised all over their site as being provided. Hotel staff response is “if you are not happy with the room temp we offer a full refund if you check out!” This is really helpful when you need a room and all other hotels full because of a sports event!!!! Staff really poor at offering any advanced explanation or option, or compensation. You have to fight for this one!! When they eventually tell you the problem they make out it is a new problem being sorted. It is not. It has been going on for days. And no one is coming to fix it ‘today’ My advice - cancel your booking if you want a cool room and service without lies - terrible let down and service. They just don’t care 🤷‍♂️

One of our employers stayed in this hotel last week and is absolutely covered in bed bug bites as a result. At least one other person in the group of apprentices who were staying at the hotel also ended up covered in bites. Reception staff agreed to move him to a different room but offered absolutely no compensation or care for an eighteen year old covered in over 100 bed bug bites as a result of an out of control infestation at their hotel. He is in the most terrible state. I have written to management about the problem and informed the council, but I would avoid staying here at all costs as they clearly don't care that they have a pest issue that is in no way under control.
