Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah, Muscat

My room was on the 4th floor. On the very first day the elevator stopped working.. I went up the stairs, there was some kind of strong chemical smell - either paint or dichlorvos (can you imagine this at a temperature of 33 degrees?).. The water in the toilet did not flush. There is no soundproofing in the room at all - you can hear everything from the corridor and other rooms: the sounds of the elevator, calls from cleaning stuff in other rooms, crying and screaming children. You can hear simply EVERYTHING. There was water in the bottle of shower gel.. As a result, I also met cockroach on the door to my room. Looks like, on the stairs it was the smell of dichlorvos... There is no "do not disturb" sign in the room. And they disturb you. Just constantly disturb you. They come several times a day and ring until you open the door or they come in themselves. No privacy options or peaceful sleep and rest.. For 5 stars this is just awful.

We had a great experience with Shangri la. My son (4y) had an amazing time at the cool zone (kidsclub). We loved the lazy river and splash bad. Staff is amazing, from housekeeping to reception. They even bothered to send a beautiful cake to the room for my son's belated birthday. Thank you ❤️

My daughter took part in the kids club face painting. She enjoyed this. Also took part in the kids tshirt painting. This was satisfactory.

Best things we liked here are place are comfortable and staff are very helpful and kind and they help when kidz need help. My experience I like the place and and also kidz as well the place because they find many activities there.

It was a very nice experience in the kids’ club. The staff are very passionate and interested in the children. They are helpful and talkative, and they make good contact with the children. Very satisfied!

The resort was recommended by a friend, it was perfect! Beautiful resort, outstanding service, everything we expected and more. A wonderful selection of restaurants and things to do without leaving the resort. We requested the VIP airport greeting service and boy, was it worth it. We were off the plane and in our BMW headed to the resort in 15 minutes! Also highly recommend the city tour arranged by the resort. Very informative.

The check-in process was easy and quick and the reception personnel was highly helpful (Mr. Bashar). The room given to me was on the 1st floor, which was not convenient for my family since the windows were not reflective from outside and you could be easily seen from the pool side. I asked for a room change and the reception was very accommodating and moved me to a higher room on fourth floor immediately. However the room was not ready or cleaned properly before it was given to me. The bed duvets were smelly and had yellow spots, the floor was dusty. This was fixed after i informed the room services to do the required and clean the room. The food buffet at Samba was good however the space was small for such a large resort. Swimming pool was great with the lazy river and lots of games and activities. The hotel has a good football playing area. The hotel also offers internal tours to the car museum and the Frankincense Garden. I would greatly recommend the Frankincense tour with Mr. Khaled Al Ameri, who is great tour guide and makes the tour really enjoyable. Overall, the resort is nice and good place to spend some relaxing time with the Family, but i would say value for money could be enhanced and make it better, especially when comparing to other Shangri-La resorts.
